Diablo 4 devs promise some powerful skills for Season 3’s new mechanical companion. They’ve gone as far as to compare them to Uber Uniques.
Diablo 4 is about to undergo a massive change with the recently revealed Season of the Construct. The game’s third seasonal content update brings a host of changes but the most intriguing is a new companion called the Seneschal.
The Seneschal is a wonder of magic and science created by the legendary sorcerer Zoltun Kulle. The mechanical arachnoid companion is the core gameplay feature of Diablo 4 Season 3 and it has been confirmed to scale with your character’s level.
If you’re lucky enough, your companion’s power could vastly outstrip your own according to developers. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Systems Designer for Diablo 4 Sean White revealed two particularly powerful upgrades that act as Uber Uniques for the Seneschal.
In Diablo 4 Season 3, the Seneschal can be augmented with special materials known as Governing Stones and Tuning Stones. A Governing Stone will change your companion’s core ability while Tuning stones can be added to modify that ability.
In the interview, White spoke of two particularly powerful tuning stones that were so rare, that just finding them would be worth “bragging rights”. These tuning stones are called Evernight and Genesis.

While we don’t have any clues as to what sort of power Genesis offers, Evernight will be highly sought after. It mimics the power of Diablo 4’s most coveted Uber Unique and adds four ranks to all of your character’s skills.
Unlike the Harlequin Crest, the power of the Evernight Tuning Stone only lasts for a short burst but it should still make quite an impact. White’s comments on the item’s rarity are a bit of a concern though as at one point, only a fraction of a percent of Diablo 4 players had found the Harlequin Crest.
At present, Uber Unique gear is still hard to obtain but the ability to target farm Uber Duriel for a 2% drop chance is still more reliable than the randomness of Diablo 4’s launch.
Hopefully, there will be a reliable way of farming these unique Tuning Stones via Season of the Construct’s Vault dungeons.
