Diablo Immortal will be a free-to-play ARPG by BlizzardBlizzard Entertainment
Diablo Immortal is available on Android, iOS, and PC.

Best class tier list for PvE

As Seasons are short in Diablo Immortal, it takes quite a while for the meta to shift significantly, so the last class to be added to the game, the Tempest is still on top when it comes to PvE. This has been the case for a few seasons but it will change eventually.

The Demon Hunter, Barbarian, and Crusader are close behind them though, with the more spell-based classes falling into B-Tier. The Monk is the only class in C-Tier this Season, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t play as them if you enjoy the character.

Best Classes for PvP

TierClass
S-TierCrusader, Barbarian
A-TierTempest, Demon Hunter
B-Tier Blood Knight, Monk, Necromancer
C-TierWizard

When it comes to PvP, the Crusader and the Barbarian both reign supreme with the Tempest dropping to A-tier. The Tempest alongside the Demon Hunter. The Blood Knight, Necromancer, and Monk are all passable in PvP but fall short of greatness.

This is mostly down to their playstyles for the Blood Knight and Necromancer, but it’s odd for the Monk, as melee-focused classes often rank well in PvP. The Wizard, as expected, is at the bottom of the meta for PvP due to their status as a glass cannon.

Our tiers explained

Here is a short-hand for how each tier breakdown:

  • S-tier: The best characters in the game
  • A-tier: Very good characters offering an alternative to other options
  • B-tier: There might be situations where these characters can perform well
  • C-tier: Best to avoid unless you find yourself drawn to them

Bear in mind, that this is simply based on the current rankings for this season and is liable to change next season. As you can see, just because a character is effective in PVE doesn’t mean they’re as useful in PVP and vice versa.

This means, that by next season, the rankings could look very different. So, if your favorite classes aren’t scoring well this season, fear not, they may be Diablo and his brother’s worst nightmare next season.

We’ve also now added the Blood Knight and the Tempest which weren’t available at launch.

Diablo Immortal classes breakdown

Here’s an explanation of each character class and an appraisal of how effective they are this season, in both PvE and PvP.

Barbarian

Diablo Immortal Barbarian gameplayBlizzard Entertainment
The Barbarian can singlehandedly take down most enemies in Diablo Immortal.

The Barbarian is the most powerful physical fighter in Diablo Immortal and has mastery over axes and heavy weapons. They’re reliable in PvE this season and top of the tree when it comes to PvE. We don’t think the class will move too far down the meta anytime soon as they’re a solid choice for all playstyles.

Necromancer

Necromancer gameplay diablo immortalBlizzard Entertainment
A Necromancer begins his journey in Diablo Immortal – Skeleton in tow.

The Necromancer is the classic summoner class that uses skeletons and golems to support them in battle while they blast enemies with bone and blood magic. The class is fairly middle of the road this season in terms of PvE and PvP, ranked as B in both metas. However, if you can’t live without minions, this class will still serve you well.

Wizard

The Wizard is a lot like the Sorcerer from Diablo 4.

Diablo Immortal’s answer to the Sorcerer, the Wizard is the classic caster build in the mobile game and is for those who want to play as a glass cannon, hanging back and blasting enemies with spells. The class is fine to use in PvE, but not recommended for PvP this season. To be fair, caster classes are usually overpowered in PvE but fall short in PvP in Diablo games.

Monk

diablo-immortal-monk-buildBlizzard Entertainment
The Monk is a lethal hand-to-hand warrior.

Returning from Diablo 3, the Monk uses martial arts to destroy their enemies and can be deadly in close combat. They’re quite low on the PvE meta this season but can still do some damage in PvP when in the right hands. However, better classes are available this season. Don’t be afraid to use them though, the Monk has been top of the meta in both PvP and PvE in Diablo Immortal many times.

Crusader

The Crusader class is a favorite in Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal.

The Crusader is Diablo Immortal’s holy warrior option and smites their enemies with heavy swords and shields while protected from harm in their dense armor. The class is exceptional in PvP this season and is also a great choice for PvE. We’d argue that the Crusader is the best class this season, but they have competition from the Barbarian and Tempest.

Demon Hunter

diablo immortal low user rating metacriticThe Demon Hunter returns from Diablo 3.

The Demon Hunter is the rogue class in Diablo Immortal, using traps, crossbows, and knives to take down the hordes of Hell. They’re a solid choice this season for both PvE and PvP, being ranked as A-class in both categories. This is a great class to play if you want to take part in both solo and multiplayer. However, we expect they’ll drop in the meta eventually.

Blood Knight

Blood Knight gameplayBlizzard Entertainment
The Blood Knight is Diablo’s first playable vampire!

The Blood Knight uses their vampiric powers to fight Diablo’s minions, making them a truly unique class. However, the Blood Knight has dropped in the meta since the release of the Tempest class and is now a reliable but mediocre B-class character this season. However, they’ll likely climb back up the rankings in future seasons. The class is only playable in Diablo Immortal, so if you love Diablo games and are new to this one, it’s a must-play.

Tempest

Tempest gameplayBlizzard Entertainment
The Tempest is a water wizard who’s had quite enough of demons.

The Tempest was added to Diablo Immortal in 2024 and is absolutely slaying it in PvE, reigning at the top of the meta – where we expect they’ll stay for a long time. The class uses a mixture of AOE spells and temporary minions to do their damage and this hybrid playstyle is deadly in PvE. The Tempest is effective in PvE this season, but they lose out to the more powerful Barbarian and Crusader.
