Former champion and beloved fan-favorite player Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin left his own mark on this year’s Dota 2 International with a daring heist in the middle of the broadcast.
The International doesn’t just deliver the best quality Dota 2 gameplay, it delivers the best quality comedy and meme potential in perhaps all of esports.

Already this year’s iteration of the tournament has delivered in spades, with the hilarious “American” Evil Geniuses skit, the antics of Kaci Aitchison and Jake ‘SirActionSlacks’ Kanner in the Shanghai crowd, Austin “Capitalist” Walsh drenching himself with his own water bottle during a hype moment, and much more.
Even as the competition ramped up and new heroes were being announced, the fun and games didn’t stop. Following the surprisingly short All-Star game, Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström took a bite of the MVP trophy, a big wedge of cheese.

Following the match, the cheese made its way over to the Chinese commentary team, who were taking bites out of it to the delight of the home crowd. Little did they know that a plan was being concocted over on the English desk, and before they knew it, the heist was on:
Dendi appeared out of nowhere to snag to the cheese, with a delirious Shanghai crowd cheering him on. Dairy product in hand, he weaved his way through the production setup like he was back in the jungle, and made his way back to an ecstatic English commentary desk, who led a chant of “Dendi, Dendi” to a thunderous ovation.
The English commentary split the spoils of their misdeeds evenly, with each member taking a bite of the trophy as the crowd in the arena continued to cheer.
Dendi is currently wanted for grand theft dairy. If you are in Mercedes-Benz Arena and you spot a beloved Ukrainian Dota player trying to hide a cheese wedge, please contact security immediately.
