EA revealed the top 50 players for FC 25, with some stars getting upgrades and others downgrades based on their performances.
Before jumping into EA FC 25 Ultimate Team, kick-off matches, or Career Mode for the first time, it’s essential to know the best players available to build the best team possible.
Based on their performances last season, EA gave key players downgrades or upgrades. For example, rising Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham went from an 86 to a 90 overall after scoring 19 goals and adding six assists during his first season in Spain.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi still might be one of the best players in the world, but age and injuries contributed to a downgrade.
Let’s jump right into the other rating changes made.

Biggest upgrades in EA FC 25’s top 50
Jude Bellingham [86 to 90]
Jude Bellingham’s +4 rating increase from 86 to 90 overall elevates him into the rarified air among the best players in the world. It’s hard to argue against that decision, as the English midfielder had a fantastic first season with Real Madrid, registering 19 goals and six assists.
Phil Foden [85 to 88]
Fellow Englishman Phil Foden also had a breakout season last year. Foden won Premier League Player of the Year after helping lead Manchester City to a fourth straight title with 27 goal contributions. He deserved a +3 rating increase, but he should be above an 88 overall player.

Antonio Rüdiger [85 to 88]
Last up, Antonio Rüdiger surprisingly got a +3 upgrade, but it’s more than warranted. Instead of slowing down at 31 years old, the German center-back dominated Europe last year, shutting down some of the best offenses in the world regularly for Real Madrid.
Biggest downgrades explained
Lionel Messi [90 to 88]
Lionel Messi getting two ratings knocked off makes sense, given his age and injury problems in 2023. However, Messi helped lead Argentina to a Copa America title and has been outstanding in the MLS. Additionally, the legend has 12 goals and nine assists in just 12 games for Inter Miami this season.
Casemiro [89 to 84]
The Manchester United star, Casemiro, got a massive -5 downgrade after quite a bad season, leaving him with his lowest rating since FIFA 17. More so, his stats were severely lowered, too, with his pace going down 25 points.
Karim Benzema [90 to 86]
The iconic Franch player, Benzema, joined the Saudi Pro League as part of the AI-Ittihad Club, and instead of standing out, he was stagnant, scoring only 9 goals throughout the season. It’s actually no surprise he got such a downgrade.
Once EA releases the entire database, stay tuned for the best player rating lists for every position. It’s also important to note that these ratings are subject to change during the season based on player performances.
