The Elden Ring community believes that an enemy seen in the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer indicates multiple levels in the map, much like the base game and its many surprises.
There are a lot of clues for Elden Ring players to try and uncover in the Shadow of the Erdtree from last week, and they are busy hunting them down.
From interesting sigils indicating big lore implications to how certain characters fit into the larger narrative, there have been quite a few theories circulating around.
Now, the Elden Ring base believes that an enemy seen in the trailer also shows that the DLC map is going to have more than one level to it.
Elden Ring fans think DLC enemy proves underground section of map
The theory began circulating on a post to the Elden Ring subreddit, titled: “So, what are the going theories?”
The post comes with a screenshot of the enemy in the trailer: a large, skeletal creature atop and/or connected to a spectral horse of some kind.
While the post is intended to discuss who this enemy is, the main thing that others have gravitated to is its environment.
Based on what they can see in the picture, it causes them to believe that the Shadow of the Erdtree will have more than just one level to it.

“My theory is pretty obvious and simple: This enemy shows that there is a map beneath the map.”
The base game of Elden Ring contains several different underground areas across the map, so having another one in the DLC isn’t out of the question.
In terms of who the enemy is, there are several ideas ranging from it just being a normal enemy of no importance to it being some kind of reincarnation of Radahn, one of the game’s most iconic bosses.
The enemy being Radahn is something some users think makes sense given what has to be done to access the DLC:
“It being the corpse of Radahn could also explain why Miyazaki said killing Radahn was one of the requirements to enter the DLC. Interesting, never thought of that before…”
While there are still plenty of answers remaining, this isn’t going to stop the Elden Ring fans from continuing to play detective.
