Asmongold on Activision Blizzard lawsuit

Twitch sensation Asmongold is known for his complex relationship with World of Warcraft developers, Activision Blizzard, and has spoken out regarding the ongoing lawsuit against the company.

It has been revealed that gaming behemoth Activision Blizzard is being sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (CDFH) for fostering a “pervasive frat boy culture.”

Uncovering that many female employees have been subject to sexual harassment and lower paychecks, the CDFH report reveals that one employee took her own life during a work trip due to a sexual relationship with her male supervisor.

Asmongold calls Activision Blizzard “shameful”

In a tweet from July 21 just after the news broke, Asmongold has called out the company for their “shameful” behavior.

“Shameful to hear about what’s been reportedly going on at Blizzard,” he writes. “As a 20+ year fan it really hurts to see how things have devolved in such an awful way.”

Concluding that it “just makes me sad,” the tweet may be short, but the message behind it is incredibly powerful.

Streamers rally against Activision Blizzard

Asmongold isn’t the only content creator to have spoken out about the ongoing investigation, however. Streamers who focus on both Activision and Blizzard titles have also had their say.

OpTic’s CoD focused creator Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards writes that the situation “makes him sick,” and asks “how f**king hard is it not to treat people like s**t?”

YouTuber OrdinaryGamers has encouraged players to “uninstall Warzone and start playing a game from their competitors,” otherwise the company “ain’t gonna do f**kall.”

Finally, Twitch streamer Katie ‘Pikachulita’ Robinson writes “welcome to our reality,” noting “unfortunately, for women- especially us black women- the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard isn’t even remotely surprising.”

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not Asmongold addresses this situation on stream. He’s actively addressed one of Blizzard’s devs calling him an “a**hole,” and isn’t one to shy away from controversial topics.

There is no place in our company or industry, or any industry, for sexual misconduct or harassment of any kind.” They also claim that “The DFEH includes distorted, and in many cases false, descriptions of Blizzard’s past.”
