Popular Fortnite streamer Jack ‘CouRageJD’ Dunlop has explained why FaZe Clan’s Jarvis Kaye had to be banned for cheating, although agrees that a lifetime ban is too long.
FaZe Jarvis made headlines when he was issued with a lifetime ban from Fortnite after posting a YouTube video in which he used an aimbot in public matches.
Despite public outcry over the length of the ban, and while FaZe Clan themselves have started a ‘FreeJarvis’ hashtag on social media to have the punishment lifted, the competitive player remains banned, with no sign of a reprieve on the horizon.
In the latest edition of the CouRage and Nadeshot Show, the streamer, alongside guest Jordan Fisher, explained why Epic Games had to ban the pro player, even if the length is too long in his opinion.
“I think that the tough thing here is that there are so many things to look at,” the 25-year-old explained. “It’s unprecedented, someone of this size doing it. I know how young my Fortnite audience is, I would argue that their audience skews just as young.
“So when you do this, even when you say ‘you shouldn’t do this,’ with how easily accessible these things are, and how impressionable these kids are, they might not even be able to understand the repercussions of doing this on their own accounts.”

“For him to then put it to an audience of two million people, Epic views it as, in my opinion, time to make an example,” concluded the 100 Thieves star. “Do I think it needs to be lifetime? No, but the minimum for me has to be two years, for the size of what it is. He’s absolutely made a mistake.”

As one of the biggest names in Fortnite worldwide, CouRageJD believes that Jarvis was absolutely wrong to upload the video, and the FaZe Clan member is now set to take a break away from content creation as he evaluates his next step.
Whether Epic Games will relent on the length of the ban remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely that it will be lifted entirely in the near future.
