Twitch streamer HasanAbi has agreed to pay an editor after he made explosive allegations accusing The Young Turks star of exploiting his labor.
On November 25, a user by the name of AsarathaHS, who also goes by ‘Blake’ on Discord, took to Reddit to claim that Hasan “gave him false hope” for a full-time editing position.
The user explained how back in June he heard Hasan say he was looking for an editor and reached out to him asking if it was okay if he edited his gameplay videos.
AsarathaHS said he expected no compensation for these videos and that he made them to show he was capable of making a video a day.
Once a few more videos were produced, edited and uploaded, AsarathaHS explained to Hasan he was interested in being his full-time editor and provided screenshots of the exchange.
In the screenshots AsarathaHS provided, Hasan replied “I can tell haha” when Blake inquired about the editor position. He would then go on to say that he was “trying to find someone who’s doing exactly what you’re doing,” but capable of making longer breakdown videos.
After a few more videos were made including one about the DemDebate and US Senator Kamala Harris, Blake explained he hadn’t been able to keep up and was still looking for a job.
In the Discord screenshots dated October 3, Hasan replied apologizing to the video editor and told him he doesn’t “have the kind of clout that makes other people profit off my clips yet.”

Finally, on November 19, Blake asked the left-wing streamer if he was still looking for an editor, but never received a reply.
For his part, however, Hasan claimed Blake never asked for compensation for his work. “People send me videos they edit all the time. If they ask for compensation I pay them,” he wrote in a reply. “This person never asked for compensation.”
“I’m terrible at communicating (as the editors I work with will tell you) but I would’ve paid this dude if he wanted me to, I liked his editing,” he continued.
“If he wants some money for it, I’ll pay him too (idgaf about him trynna hurt my rep, he’s entitled to compensation for his labor since he obviously had a different opinion about our relationship).”
“Going forward I don’t want people to send me free edits or memes, or hls [highlights] unless I tell you ‘yeah I really like this can we work together I would love to pay you,’” Hasan went on.
While the whole thing could have ended a lot worse, Hasan took the high ground by offering Blake some compensation. That being said, the lack of communication between the two parties was certainly a major issue in what could have been an otherwise good working relationship.
