Matthew ‘Mizkif’ Rinaudo almost forgot to call his dad up on his birthday, but to make up for it, he got hundreds of people from his Twitch chat to sing “Happy Birthday” to him – or at least, that was the plan.
There are a few certainties that come with birthdays — aging a year older, getting a present or two, and having happy birthday sung at you by anyone who passes by. Mizkif’s dad passed the big 60 today, but his son almost forgot to celebrate with a chipper tune.
“I don’t know why a guy jumping out of a window made me remember this but it’s my dad’s birthday,” the streamer said. “Oh sh*t. He just turned 60.”
Frantically running around to try and reach out to his dad, Mizkif had the perfect idea — call him up on stream and get his Twitch chat to sing “Happy Birthday” to him.
“Hey Dad, I’m on stream, but it’s your birthday. Chat, everyone get in my Discord right now and let’s sing happy birthday to my dad,” he said. His dad on the other end of the line patiently waited for the salutations to come through, as dozens of people joined the call every second.
There’s a slight issue with this plan though. Discord’s voice calls aren’t the greatest things once you break past a few people speaking at the same time, especially when it’s people repeating the same thing.
So when Mizkif started feeding hundreds of his viewers into his general chat to sing happy birthday, what came out was a convoluted mess.
Mizkif did reassure his dad that it was indeed happy birthday they were singing. “They’re singing happy birthday to you, do you hear them,” he said. The Discord was so loud it was impossible to hear the streamer’s dad over the static, but one can assume he was a little bit confused.

After about 45 seconds, Mizkif waved his chat off and said that he’d give his dad a proper callback with a more heartfelt message than high-pitched squealing.
The streamer seemed pretty proud of his efforts, even saying it was “better than expected.” However, ‘Nemz38’, who was on call with him at the same time, had a cheeky dig at the gibberish that went through Mizkif’s line to his dad.
“Imagine being such a bad son that you spend three hours in a call getting your ego stroked and not saying happy birthday to your dad, and then when you remember, you call him and you play that down the phone,” he said. “I understand why you got kicked out now.”
Mizkif didn’t take the insult laying down, firing right back at the British streamer. “Shut the f**k up dude,” he said. “I bet you probably stroke your dad’s c**k every single night just to stay in your little f**king cubby of a room in the UK you loser, I hate you.”
Mizkif turned off his stream about an hour later to hopefully give his father a nice call and wish him happy birthday properly.
It wasn’t the most conventional way of letting your relatives know that you love them, but the joke was not lost on Mizkif or his dad. It was probably the most people his dad has ever heard singing happy birthday at the same time, so while it was a bit of a mess, it was the best mess possible.
