Popular streamer and Fortnite star, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, responded to claims that his surprise move from Twitch to Mixer on August 1 was incentivized by money.
Ninja, who was the largest streamer on Twitch in terms of raw follower numbers at the time of his announcement, revealed that he would be switching to Microsoft’s live streaming platform, Mixer, on August 1 after his long career on Twitch.
As the biggest streamer on Twitch at the time, Ninja’s move to Mixer caught many fans by surprise with many believing a big pay day from the Microsoft-owned platform was the primary motivation.
Ninja revealed that he would be exclusively streaming on Microsoft’s streaming platform, Mixer on August 1.
On August 10, Ninja watched a short fan-made animated video, highlighting some of his biggest moments and achievements on Twitch, such as the livestream with Drake and being the first and only streamer to hit the 10 million follower mark on the platform.
The video ended with a Mixer logo pouring out money for the animated Fortnite streamer who looked thrilled by seeing the cash raining down, suggesting that financial gain was one of the main reasons for Ninja’s switch.

However, after laughing at video, Ninja quickly shut down the claim that his move to Mixer was primarily incentivized by money as many fans had believed: “I can’t even give you guys specifics but trust me, money was not the incentive, that I can tell you.”
The Fortnite star also claims to be willing to lose viewers during his transition to Mixer, with Ninja’s wife and manager, Jessica Blevins, claiming the move aligns with what they wanted for his brand regardless of how much support they received.
Ninja seems to be enjoying his first few days streaming on Mixer, even claiming that this new chapter has him feeling like a kid again and has already begun to build up smaller streamers on Microsoft’s platform with some incredibly heartwarming hosts.
Although many were initially questioning the streamer’s move to Mixer, he has now managed to hit over 1 million subscribers on the new platform in less than a week after making his big announcement.
