During his September 30 episode of ‘Last Week I Asked You’, YouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg made a surprise announcement while in Japan to cap off the insane year he’s had, fueled by the success of his Minecraft series.
PewDiePie has had one hell of a year so far with him passing the 100 million YouTube subscribers milestone on August 25, and marrying his best friend Marzia ‘CutiePie’ Bisognin just days earlier on August 19.
However, much of his channel’s success has largely been a result of his return to gaming, when he launched his wildly popular Minecraft series in June. And now the Swede and his wife are hitting another major milestone in their lives, which he announced in his latest episode while in Japan.
PewDiePie’s major announcement
While Pewds visiting Japan has become an annual tradition, the Sweded ended his makeshift episode of LWIAY with a huge announcement when he revealed to his audience that him and Marzia had actually bought a house in Japan.

“Hey, remember a while back when last time I was in Japan, and I was like “I would really like to live here” … Well, we bought a house here, yay! So we are just here for a couple of days setting up. That’s why I don’t have my whole set up and everything is terrible. I just wanted to say thank you, it’s a dream come true!” he said.

The Swede and his wife have gone to Japan on numerous occasions over the years, and frequently uploaded videos of their adventures. But in their April 15 vlog, the YouTube star admitted that they were visiting to see if they could move there.

“I really want to do it. I don’t want to look back in a couple of years and wonder what would have been. And I’m in a really unique position to do something like this and want to try it!” he exclaimed.
At the time, PewDiePie had admitted that he and his wife were feeling overwhelmed by the steps it would take to immigrate to a new country together, but it looks like they overcame those hurdles.

Since then, he’s seen his channel gaining double the views, as he went from 300 million to close to 600 million monthly watches in those three months. And according to Social Blade, the YouTuber gained close to four million subscribers – and that’s not even counting September.
While it’s unclear if Pewds will be living full time in Japan, this is undoubtedly a huge step for him and his wife, making yet another major milestone for the YouTuber.
