Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg has been hailed as the ‘king of YouTube’ for five years – but his quickly encroaching defeat doesn’t seem to be bothering him.
PewDiePie gave his true thoughts on the matter in a Q & A video on October 21, where he admitted that T Series’ rapidly increasing subscriber rate isn’t a major point of contention to him.
“I don’t really care about T Series,” he stated. “I genuinely don’t. I think that if YouTube does shift in a way that’s more corporate… something else will take its place.”
Rather than taking issue with T Series and YouTube’s ever-growing shift towards corporate involvement, PewDiePie instead expressed concern around YouTubers ‘shilling’ corporate products in their videos.
“I think what bothers me more… is YouTubers shilling corporate,” he stated. “…buying into this image that companies want them to be for the sake of being lifted up by them. It’s a great business move… but to me, it’s inauthentic.”

He then went on to state that he sees YouTubers’ authentic connections to their fans as a major selling point for the platform, and feels that the site’s greatest issue lies in its leadership.
“No one really respects the website,” he explained. “A lot of the decisions and changes haven’t been connected with the community.”
PewDiePie mentioned this very issue in his video detailing the release of Logan Paul’s YouTube Red movie, where he criticized the platform’s apparent double-standard in regards to the behavior of its creators.
PewDiePie is set to be defeated by T Series very soon: the channels currently sit at 67 million and 66 million subscribers, respectively.
