YouTube star Felix ‘PewDiePie‘ Kjellberg did his best in creating a new Sonic the Hedgehog design for the upcoming movie, it’s just unlikely any will be used.
It’s no surprise the original Sonic the Hedgehog design revealed in the original movie trailer left a lot to be desired, which led Paramount to announce a redesign was in the works.
This led some fans to offer their own take on what the new Sonic design could be, including PewDiePie.
However, PewDiePie is an entertainer above all else so it doesn’t seem like he was designing a new Sonic the Hedgehog for the purpose of getting it used in a movie but for memes instead.

The famous YouTuber instead decided to use Photoshop to make some curious designs, to say the least.
Thanos the Hedgehog?
Pewds made a video showing him trying to fix Sonic’s design, something he has been rather critical of in the past, even going so far to call Sonic cursed.
Instead of creating some real concepts for Paramount to use, he took his talents elsewhere and created a Thanos, Shrek and Dr. Phil design.
PewDiePie didn’t stop there as he also designed a Shrek the Hedgehog and Dr. Phil the Hedgehog in Photoshop.

These are pretty much nightmares brought to life so while Sonic wasn’t exactly fixed by this video, it’s clear there are some much worse Sonic designs out there outside of the initial design.
Take this Dr. Phil design, for example, as it looks more like a nightmare brought to life.
One thing we can be thankful for since the bad design came out is the door was opened to countless memes and for artists to offer their takes.
Last, but not least, we have Shrek the Hedgehog, which speaks for itself.
What is Sonic’s new design?
Paramount hasn’t revealed what Sonic the Hedgehog’s new design will be in the upcoming film, but we do know it will be looking different than what was first seen.
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast :wrench::victory:️

There’s no telling if the movie will end up being successful, given the track record of video game movies as a whole, but getting a more faithful Sonic design will go a long way to making it have a better chance at success.
