Twitch star Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys was shocked when her Valorant teammate claimed a man wielding a gun was trying to break into his apartment complex during their match.
Unlike other entertainment mediums, streaming is as real as it gets due to its live nature. While viewers are watching their favorite personalities, sometimes the real world can disrupt things in a very scary way.
This is what happened during Pokimane’s April 12 Twitch broadcast when one of her teammates claimed someone was breaking into the apartment near them. The Morocco-Canadian was stunned, and urged him to call the police.
Pokimane stunned after teammate witnesses a break-in
The streamer was in the middle of playing Valorant with TSM’s Dimitri ‘Greekgodx’ Antonatos when their teammate abruptly announced that someone was breaking into his apartment.
“Hey, not gonna lie, someone’s trying to break in my apartment near me, with a gun,” they said. Stunned, Pokimane replied, “Oh my God. Don’t play. Don’t play. Please, go call the cops!” He then added, “I’m being 100% serious, I’ll be back.”

The room then sat in silence, clearly shaken by what happened, when Pokimane said, “That’s scary!” The player’s friend assured them he wasn’t trolling. “He’s my IRL friend, he wouldn’t f**k around.” She replied, “Hopefully everything is okay. Try to check on him ASAP if you can!”

Concerned, Poki then suggested he call the cops or check to see what is happening. “Should you call the cops to his place?” she asked. “I mean, I’m getting ready to call him to see if he’s alright,” he replied.
As the Valorant match continued, the popular streamer told him that it didn’t matter if they won and that he could call now. “You can call him now. We don’t care about winning the game!”
Greek pointed out that their teammate had said “near” his apartment, when the friend stated, “I hear him on his mic now. I think he’s okay.” The TSM personality exclaimed “Oh, thank God!” at the news.
While it’s not entirely clear what happened to Pokimane’s teammate, it appears that in the end he was alright. The moment is an example of how a broadcast can quickly turn serious due to it being live.
Despite the scary situation, the Twitch streamer continues to crush it on the streaming platform. At the time of writing she’s amassed over 4.4 million followers to her channel.
