Twitch streamer ‘mmDust’ has come in for some heat after comments he made at a panel during TwitchCon 2018, where he suggested viewers shouldn’t relate to him, because he’s above them.
During the panel, an audience member was explaining what she likes in a good Twitch streamer, with one of her points being someone she can “relate to”.
However, mmDust’s response may have surprised her, saying his viewers “shouldn’t relate to him” because he’s better or “bigger” than them.
mmDust is a variety streamer, who does speed runs of numerous games, and according to Twitch stats tracker Twinge, averages 43 viewers, with almost 11,000 followers.
However, mmDust doesn’t think much of those 10,000 followers, as he says “it’s kind of like low-key god complex, [but] I don’t think many of my viewers should relate themselves to me because I do think of myself as better than-” catching himself mid-sentence.
He does finish his thought however, saying “Not better, but like, bigger – there’s no good way to say this – I think of myself as above the average person, so I don’t think many people could relate to me.”

According to his Twitch panels, mmDust is certainly true to his word, and isn’t fond of much interaction with his viewers or even paying subscribers. Under his ‘sub perks’ panel, he states:
“You can use my emotes. THATS IT. NO SUB GAMES. NO SUB DISCORD. NO MOVIE NIGHTS. I DON’T WANNA PLAY GAMES WITH YOU. I DON’T WANNA HANG OUT WITH YOU ON DISCORD. LEAVE ME ALONE”
He has since taken to Twitter to respond to some of the criticizms, admitting that his unorthodox way of streaming may impact his potential income.
Weird that people think I beg for subs and donations (when i dont) or think that I dont realize streaming the way I do will hinder my stream when it comes to making money from it.
Also I didnt say "viewers" i said "the average person", which is a lot more people

I'll probably elaborate on why I stream the way I do later. Not to "defend myself" or anything like that, but just to provide a more detailed explanation of my viewpoints when it comes to my stream.

His comments on the TwitchCon panel has quickly done the rounds on Twitter and Reddit. Although it is being met with serious backlash, as the saying goes no publicity is bad publicity, as he has already gained a few followers on his channel.
He does say he plans to eloborate on his comments, so perhaps to give him the benefit of the doubt, he just didn’t express himself as well as he could have, but as he admitted, “there’s no good way to say this.”
