Twitch legend Jaryd ‘summit1g’ Lazar stormed away from his streaming setup to cool off after an epic fail on Escape from Tarkov on January 11.
Summit1g has been at the top of Twitch for a number of years, to the point where he is considered by many as the best streamer of the last decade. He has never been tied to one title in particular, mixing and matching games based on what he’s enjoying and what his audience wants to watch.
This is a trait he has demonstrated recently, playing Battlestate Games’ Escape from Tarkov, as a host of the biggest streamers in the world flock to the tactical first-person shooter.
While feedback from streamers about Escape from Tarkov has been overwhelmingly positive – with even notoriously critical Dr Disrespect praising the game – summit was left fuming after a miserable fail on January 11.
Noticing an enemy just down the road from him, summit lines up his sights to pick up the kill. However, he misses multiple shots and the enemy simply turns and headshots the streamer in a flash, seeing Lazar’s character instantly killed.
In response, Lazar jumps to his feet, takes his headset off and runs out of camera view, seemingly to avoid another iconic ‘summit smash’ moment.

For a moment Lazar looks as if he’s going to hit his gaming chair, but he quickly leaves the frame to give himself time to cool down.
Returning to his seat shortly after, summit explains what went wrong: “I was shooting to his left,” he said. “I swear that last shot hit. I’m so glad I loaded up for that.”
“I hit no shots,” the 32-year-old finished. “I deserved that. He stood completely still for me. Escape from Tarkov is the only game I feel can cr*p on me all day long without letting up.”
Despite launching back in the summer of 2016, Escape from Tarkov has found a new lease of life among streamers, after multiple big names joined Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek on the tactical FPS.
Summit was one of these big names. Despite his clear anger at the game, he has been loving the title of late and it seems probable we’ll see him playing it again soon.
