YouTuber Tana Mongeau has opened up on her YouTube hiatus, apologizing to her audience and explaining the reasons why she decided to take this step heading into 2020.
The 21-year-old became an internet sensation throughout 2019, with her marriage to Jake Paul taking over social media as fans tuned in to watch their relationship dynamic, and even try to figure out if it was legitimate.
The American even landed her own MTV reality show, but at the end of 2019, the couple announced that they were taking a break. Following a video uploaded to her channel on December 29 discussing the separation, Mongeau’s channel has been dormant, with no videos uploaded in almost three weeks.
On January 15, Mongeau addressed her disappearance from the platform, apologizing to fans who have been anxiously waiting for her next upload and explaining the reasons behind her sabbatical.
“Sorry for how long I haven’t uploaded,” she wrote on Twitter. “It won’t happen again this year. I’ve been trying to [take a] break for my mental and physical health, which are both failing miserably.”
The YouTube star did confirm that while she hasn’t been recording footage for her channel, the MTV cameras have continued filming her during her hiatus for her show Tana Turns 21, meaning her fans can see what happened during her time away.

This isn’t the first time that Tana has decided to step away from social media, announcing that she was taking a break away from Twitter and Instagram back in early December when Jake Paul released a song talking about how he missed his ex-girlfriend Alissa Violet.
In the post on December 4, the 21-year-old said she wanted to “advocate for authenticity and mental health awareness,” and that she felt she was “succumbing to the pressure of the highlight reel” that comes with being a star online.
For those eager to see Mongeau return to YouTube, she confirmed that will be uploading a new video “as soon as possible,” which will be a recap of her 2019.
