YouTuber Tana Mongeau has more going on than her recent divorce from ex-hubby Jake Paul; the internet celeb has also been dealing with a concerning health issue, which she shared in her ongoing MTV reality series, .No Filter.’
Mongeau’s MTV special has hinted at this health concern throughout the series, with the star constantly coughing and attributing the issue to her smoking habit.
Even her friend group considered the possibility that she had Tuberculosis, but Mongeau had yet to receive an official diagnosis until manager Jordan insisted that she go to a respiratory specialist to discover the source of her breathing problems.
“I’ve had like a chronic cough, to the point of coughing so hard I feel like I’m going to throw up,” she described the issue. “…When I lay down, it feels like there’s water in my lungs.”
Allegedly coughing up blood and suffering from debilitating anxiety about the matter, the YouTuber finally saw a doctor to get to the bottom of her health scare — and thankfully, it’s nothing as serious as Tuberculosis, which is caused by bacteria in the lungs.
After taking a breathing test, Tana’s specialist confirmed that she was suffering from asthma potentially brought on by a virus, for which he prescribed a temporary inhaler to counter her discomfort.
However, she didn’t seem upset by this diagnosis, and even compared the matter to a “clean bill of health,” also refusing to give up smoking in spite of her condition.
“I’m not gonna make any changes to my health,” she told her manager during the drive back to her home. “I don’t really see myself as someone taking that kind of medicine right now. …I guess asthma is better than Tuberculosis.”

After joking about her diagnosis with her friends, the star admitted that the issue “was kind of serious,” and claimed that she would be taking the inhaler as prescribed.
“I’m super stoked that something really hard to control is not wrong with me,” she told her manager. “I will attempt to make it better, even though I do not care about it.”
While Mongeau may not be overly concerned about her asthma, comments on MTV’s episode show ample investment from fans, who are urging the YouTuber to listen to her manager’s advice in wake of her results.
