Mortal Kombat fans were treated to one of the most entertaining showdowns at Gamescom 2019 as The Mountain from Game of Thrones not only manhandled an opponent in-game, but in real life as well.
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who stands at 6ft 9 and goes by the name Thor, took to the stage at Europe’s leading trade fair and didn’t disappoint in an epic showdown with Dimitri Vegas in Mortal Kombat 11.
Just moments later, though, the fans inside the room were treated to something that they have come to expect from the Mountain in recent times, as he crushed his enemy in the post-match interview.
Starting with the in-game collision, though, both players contested what turned out to be a dramatic, back and forth clash.
The decisive blow came from the Game of Thrones actor, though, as he smashed Dimitri Vegas’ Sub-Zero into the ground with an unbelievable hammer strike from Shao Kahn, which led to the finish.

The two featured competitors were asked to cap things off with a nice friendly handshake towards the end, after Björnsson was crowned the winner, but things perhaps went a little further than expected.
Reminiscent of that dramatic final fight scene between the Hound and Mountain in Game of Thrones Season 8, he grabbed Vegas by the head with both hands and lifted him into the air for a few moments – for which the crowd went wild.
Mortal Kombat 11 might have some of the most devastating fighting characters on its comprehensive roster, but after seeing what the Mountain can do, there’s a case to be made for him to maybe be included as a fighter in the future.
