Like many other content creators, Benjamin ‘DrLupo’ Lupo has been trying his hand at FPS title Escape from Tarkov this week, with the streamer saying he’s been “hoping for a moment like this for the game.”
Escape from Tarkov has taken over Twitch to start off 2020, frequently topping the charts as the most viewed game on the platform. ‘Dr Disrespect,’ Michael ‘shroud’ Grzemiek, and other streamers have fantasized over the game, helping refresh the livestreaming landscape.
DrLupo is the latest streamer to speak positively about the Battlestate FPS-RPG fusion, saying that streaming the game to his audience has been rewarding.
The streamer opened up to his fans on Twitter on January 5, describing how Tarkov has made him fall deeper in love with streaming once again.
“Streaming Tarkov has been an absolute blast,” he said. “Been hoping for a moment like this for the game. No matter how long it lasts, I hope people enjoy watching it. I haven’t been this happy streaming a game in a bit.”
While DrLupo has been streaming EFT on-and-off over the last year, he’s seen a major spike in viewership this week thanks to the activation of in-game drops.

The numbers replicate the streamer’s success during the release of Fortnite, to which he was incredibly thankful to his fans, old and new alike.
“My channel saw numbers that we haven’t in a long time, in a game I’ve had a love for since I started playing it a long time ago,” he said on January 3. “I literally don’t know what to say other than thank you.”

The drops haven’t just affected DrLupo’s channel, but the entire platform. The game has peaked at the top of Twitch across the drops period as well, with almost 26 million hours watched, up 594% from the week before.
The game’s most popular content creator ‘Pestily’ reached almost six million hours watched on his channel this week alone, up over 4,600%. He beat the likes of Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel and Dr Disrespect, who have also been streaming the game.
With drops now disabled, whether the game will be able to maintain its position at the top of Twitch will now be questioned.
But for players like DrLupo, they’ll be hoping to ride the wave as long as possible to enjoy making content for one of their favorite games without the stress of conforming to what everyone wants.
