The Final Fantasy XIV devs have immortalized the low-quality fruit meme by adding in a permanent furnishing in-game item.
Final Fantasy XIV just released its final patch before the major expansion of Dawntrail later in the year. Patch 6.55 saw a small amount of content being released into the game, including new MSQ quests, the continuation of the Manderville questline, and even new Manderville relics.
Alongside the new relics, the Manderville questline introduced a new trial for players to fight against and the alliance quest for the beast tribes in Endwalker. As a minor patch, the main goal of Patch 6.55 was to introduce and lead into the story of Dawntrail, which will be arriving sometime in Summer this year.
However, all of this new content pales in comparison to one of the best items ever introduced into the MMO. The brand new “low quality” grape lamp as an outdoor furnishing item.
FFXIV devs lean into “low quality” grape meme to create new housing item
Now players from all over can pay tribute to the mightiest of memes within Endwalker’s main story, the lowest of all polygon grapes. These grapes have been memed on by the community and the developers themselves, including a low poly grape plushy in the goody bag for Fan Fest last year.

The devs have certainly leaned into the lovable meme, now creating a furnishing item that players can proudly display on their lawn for their in-game house, truly showcasing their meme knowledge.
What makes this new item even better is that the devs introduced in-game lore for the reasoning, claiming Sharlayan’s research as the culprit.
“Seeking to make grapes more transportable, a researcher at Meryall Agronomics is rumored to have produced a variety that grew in blocky clusters. Although complaints that they looked unappetizing led to a new strain with rounder edges, the original was regarded fondly by some, and so it was immortalized in the form of this lamppost.”
