A McDonald’s customer is suing the chain after they claimed that the cheese in their Big Mac almost killed them.
Charles Olsen, who resides in Rockland County, NY, faced a severe anaphylaxis reaction after he took a bite of his Big Mac during a trip to McDonald’s in 2021.
Charles has a milk allergy, so he always made sure to order his burgers without the cheese. However, he claimed that there was an unseen slice packed inside, which wasn’t revealed until he bit into his burger.
Charles had ordered the Big Mac via the food delivery app DoorDash, but requested “NO American cheese,” according to a screenshot of the order attached to the lawsuit.

“Allergies should be such a simple thing to be able to cater to as an establishment. There’s no reason why it can’t be clearly listed, options aren’t included when making an order to indicate allergies, and the staff properly trained to handle such a simple thing.”
The local McDonald’s branch addressed the situation, writing that “Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers. We take every complaint seriously and are actively reviewing these claims.”
Another McDonald’s customer went viral, claiming she was discriminated against after being kicked out of the store.
