The Netflix hit documentary series Sunderland ‘Til I Die is coming back for an unexpected third season and it’s coming soon.
Sunderland ‘Til I Die first aired in December, 2018 and was a smash hit. The documentary followed Sunderland players, officials and normal fans during the historic club’s return to the Championship in the 2017-18 season after being relegated from the Premier League the previous term.
Instead of the feel good, instant return to the top flight success story that might have been expected for the Black Cats, Sunderland actually endured a terrible year upon their return to the Football League.
In fact, Sunderland actually finished bottom of the Championship and were relegated to the third tier for the first time since 1987. The series offered a fly-on-the-wall look into a proud club’s remarkable down fall both on and off the pitch.
Sunderland would reach the League One play-off final the following season but were beaten to promotion by Charlton Athletic at Wembley.
Now, nearly four years since it last aired, Sunderland ‘Til I Die is returning for a third and final season documenting the club’s return to the Championship in the 2021/22 season.

Where can I watch Sunderland ‘Til I Die?
You can watch the first two seasons of the show as well as the new series when it is released on Netflix.
How many episodes is Sunderland ‘Til I Die season three?
The third entry into the Sunderland ‘Til I Die series will be just two episodes long, shorter than the eight of season one and the six of season two.
That’s because, rather than a full season, season three will only focus on the club’s League One play-off triumph over Wycombe Wanderers in 2022, which saw them return to the Championship.
Leo Pearlman, of the series’ production company Fulwell 73’s, said: “This time we are purely focussing on the play-off win from last season.
“There will be two episodes that look at the incredible finale to the season with the play-off semi-finals and the play- off win against Wycombe at Wembley.
“We are ending Sunderland Til I Die on a high.”
