Season 8 is finally upon us in Fortnite, bringing with it some major map changes to the battle royale island, as the effects of the earthquake and volcano are fully realized.
Like with Season 7 – which saw snow and ice cover a large portion of the map – Season 8 has freshened up the Fortnite map with new areas and changes to old ones.
Tilted Towers and Wailing Woods were among the areas most likely to experience some change, or maybe even disappear entirely, and Epic Games have not disappointed.
Fortnite Season 8 Map and Locations
There are two new locations – Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon. The v8.00 Patch Notes say that these locations “emerged with the volcano” – which of course is another map change too.
The lagoon can be seen in the background of the volcano, as well as Pirate ships making their arrival.
The cinematic trailer for Season 8 shows the Prisoner skin emerging from the volcano too – and landing at Lazy Lagoon, a jungle-like area with sandy beaches.

Volcano
The Volcano has been placed right in the middle of what used to be ‘Wailing Woods’. Judging from the Season 8 trailer, the ‘Prisoner’ is responsible for the arrival of the Volcano.
Lazy Lagoon
Lazy Lagoon is the new jungle like area, also featuring a pirate ship and a small port.
Sunny Steps
Sunny Steps has an Aztec theme, and can be found out in the wilderness behind the Volcano.
Risky Reels
After being removed in Season 7 and becoming ‘The Block’, Risky Reels has made a return to Fortnite.
Although Risky Reels has now reclaimed its old spot, The Block is still there, but has moved to other side of the map, just north east of Pleasant Park.
