Arsenal players Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac have turned to streaming Fortnite alongside the former’s esports organization, as Coronavirus uncertainty clouds a return to Premier League football.
March 12 saw the postponement of all professional football in the United Kingdom, with immediate effect.
While the UK government initially announced that sport could continue as normal, the confirmation that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had tested positive for coronavirus led to an immediate suspension of the Premier League and EFL.
While they may not be playing football together, at least for the foreseeable future, Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac teamed up on March 14 for some Fortnite Battle Royale.
The pair actually joined forces with professional player Berkay ‘Berki’ Sarioba, who represents M10 eSports – the organization owned by Mesut Ozil.
M10 currently compete in both FIFA and Fortnite, boasting the recent acquisition of Duos World Cup winner ‘Nyhrox’ on their Fortnite roster.

Many athletes are taking an increasing interest in video games, emphasized by the establishment of esports organizations in their names. Another example is Rise Nation, whose co-founder is NFL star Rodger Saffold, as well as Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, who started esports org Ellevens in February.
The Arsenal duo were carried by the professional players to a number of victories as they streamed on their respective channels.
However, they didn’t disgrace themselves either, supplementing the M10 pros with a number of decent plays.
Football and Fortnite fans were united to enjoy the pair’s streaming, despite the universal agreement that they’re not quite as good at Fortnite as they are football.
With the Premier League’s return initially set for early April (dependent on the Coronavirus situation), we can expect to see the duo streaming together again in the near future.
