Meta Analysis
Mastering Fortnite’s Chapter 6 Season 1 meta requires understanding the reintroduction of Hitscan gun mechanics, where bullets hit instantly without travel time or delay. Precision weapons like the Holo Twister Assault Rifle and newly added Ranger Assault Rifle, dominate due to their versatility and effectiveness at all ranges, making them a go-to choice for consistent damage.
Meanwhile, the Typhoon Blade still shines as an S-tier weapon, even after the highly anticipated Kinetic Blade made its comeback with the January 7 update. The Typhoon offers exceptional mobility and devastating close-combat potential with its fast, hard-hitting melee strikes. It’s the most fun weapon to use this season and has been the biggest impact to the meta.
With the new blade and Hitscan mechanics dominating the meta, Shotguns have taken a backseat this season. However, the Sentinel Pump Shotgun has steadily climbed the ranks and become one of the strongest weapons to use in your loadout.
On the other hand, the newly introduced Oni Masks have yet to make a significant impact. The Fire Oni Mask, the only weapon mask available, can lock onto enemies and unleash up to two fireballs at a time. However, it has been underwhelming so far. We’ll have to wait and see if Epic introduces stronger masks or implements buffs and nerfs in future updates, with plenty of time left before the Fortnite season ends.
Snipers remain vaulted this season, with no confirmed return in sight. However, Epic partially filled the gap by reintroducing the classic Hunting Rifle in a surprise Christmas update. While it provides a new one-shot option with decent damage, it’s still considerably weaker than traditional sniper rifles. With the addition of Hitscan mechanics, it’s also often easier to eliminate enemies at range with an AR, resulting in only a minor disruption to the meta.
Overall, precision remains the key to mastering this season’s meta. With Hitscan weapons requiring pinpoint accuracy, there’s a learning curve, especially for players unfamiliar with the mechanic so it may take a while to get used to.

Holo Twister Assault Rifle | 155.4 | 28 | 5.55 | 25 | 2.81s
Typhoon Blade | 48 | 30 (Slash)70 (Slam)90 (Cyclone Slash) | 1.6 | 100 | 7s
Sentinel Pump Shotgun | 78.2 | 92 | 0.85 | 4 | 5.39s |
Holo Twister Assault Rifle
The introduction of Hitscan mechanics has made high-precision weapons dominate the meta, with the Holo Twister Assault Rifle emerging as one of the best, earning its place as one of the two S-Tier weapons of Chapter 6 Season 1.
It excels as a versatile all-rounder, delivering balanced damage and fire rate across all ranges, allowing players to beam enemies from afar and even secure victories with just this weapon. The AR’s ease of use and consistent performance make it a must-have for players looking to reign supreme in any match.
Typhoon Blade
The Typhoon Blade is a key weapon in Chapter 6 Season 1’s meta, providing superior mobility through its sprint and dash abilities. These features allow you to quickly navigate the map and close the distance between you and opponents, catching them off guard.
Its versatility is highlighted by three powerful attacks: the Default Attack (30 damage), Falling Strike (70 damage), and Cyclone Slash (90 damage). These options give you a range of strong melee moves to unleash, making the Typhoon Blade an essential part of any close-quarters combat loadout.
Its speed and powerful strikes also make it nearly impossible to counter, letting you slice and dice through foes like a true ninja. Though only available in Epic and Mythic rarities, the Typhoon Blade is relatively easy to find across the map, and by the later stages of the game, most players will have one in their loadout.
Sentinel Pump Shotgun
Despite not initially being as popular as the Typhoon Blade or Holo Twister Assault Rifle, the Sentinel Pump Shotgun has steadily climbed the rankings and is a key meta weapon to use in your loadout when trying to get a Victory Royale.
This shotgun dominates in both the main Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, excelling in close-quarters combat with its high-damage shots. While the AR and Typhoon Blade remain superior overall, the Sentinel Pump is the only shotgun truly worth using this season. Its consistent performance cements its place as an S-Tier weapon and the third-best choice in Fortnite’s arsenal.
While the shotgun has the slowest fire rate in its class, the faster overall shotgun mechanics this season work in its favor. Its impressive base damage of 92 more than compensates for the reduced speed, with its max Legendary rarity dealing an incredible 114 damage, ensuring powerful and reliable performance.
