Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 patch notes
Wasteland theme and new POIs
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 brings a new post-apocalyptic Wasteland theme to the island. Four new POIs have been added to the map, all of which feature the latest content that has been introduced this season.
They are Redline Rig, Nitrodrome, Sandy Steppes, and Brutal Beachhead. They replace the former Snooty Steppes and Fencing Fields POI and add new ones near the Mount Olympus biome. Across the map, you’ll also find Nitro rings and ramps for you to fly through them and gain a speed boost.
Fallout crossover
The hype around the Fallout series still continues, thanks to the hit Amazon Prime series that fans are loving for its accuracy with the video game franchise. Now the much-awaited crossover with the Fallout universe arrives in Fortnite with the T-60 Power Armor skins and new weapons.
The skin can be claimed from the new Battle Pass and has three selectable styles to choose from. Also added to the game is a Nuka Cola consumable, straight from the Fallout series, which can heal players with health bars and shield over time.
Furthermore, a new Tri-Beam Laser Rifle will soon be added to the game that players will be able to use to experience the Wasteland on the Fortnite island.
Battle Pass skins
Eight new characters have been added in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass. They are T-60 Power Armor, Rust, Ringmaster Scarr, The Machinist, Megalo Don, Brite Raider, Wastelander Magneto and Peabody.
However, only seven of these are currently available in the pass since Wastelander Magneto will be available in July when themed quests and the Magneto mythic item is made available to players. You can check out the full lineup right here and how to get the Battle Pass.
New and returning weapons
The new season brings a ton of Wasteland-themed weapons to the Fortnite island and the loot pool has changed significantly. Several new weapons have been added to the arsenal such as Nitro Fists, Boom Bolt, Nitro Fists, and more.

Furthermore, many of the previous season’s weapons have returned such as Combat AR, Combat Shotgun, Tactical AR, Oscar’s Frenzy Auto Shotgun, and much more. You can check the full list of the modified loot pool right here.
New consumable items
Alongside, three new consumable items were added to the loot pool, alongside one new vehicle fuel type that players can find across the Fortnite island. These are Nuka Cola (heals health and shield over time), Slurp Cactus (heals health and shield) and Nitro Splash (gives player bashing power, speed increase, fall damage immunity, quicker reload speeds, and longer sprint time).
The same Nitro Splash is also stored in Nitro Barrels and can also be used in vehicles to give your car a driving speed increase, explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback (must be driving at a sufficient speed), fuel consumption decrease and buff to attached attack mods.
Vehicle mods
The new season also brings in Vehicle Mods, where you can fortify your ride with several attachments and ride across the Fortnite Wasteland. These include:
- Machine Gun Turret (roof slot): Have a passenger fire a machine gun while someone else drives!
- Grenade Launcher Turret (roof slot): Some would call this littering, but the Grenades will get rid of themselves by exploding.
- Spiked Bumper (front bumper slot): Deal more damage to players and objects on impact.
- Cow Catcher (front bumper slot): Boost your ramming power and give your car some defensive armor.
- Bulletproof Tires (tires slot): Tired of tire poppers? Make your tires indestructible!
- Chonkers Off-Road Tires (tires slot): Make your car more off-road friendly. Especially useful if you’re not driving an SUV!
No mechanical experience is required — just hit a Vehicle Mod Box with your car to attach the mod. You’ll know which mod you’re attaching based on the symbol on the box! Already have something in a slot? You can replace the mod with a different one, or a brand-new version of the existing one! You may want to replace a mod if its Health bar is getting low.
You can also fix your vehicles with Repair Boxes or Repair Torch, or simply drive them through with the new Service Stations that have been added as replacements to the Gas Stations. Moreover, a new War Bus (modded Battle Bus) has also been added to the island that you can take control of by hijacking and making it your own. It’s equipped with an EMP pulse and two Turrets on top.
New bosses and medallions
Three new bosses have been added to the Brutal Beachhead, Redline Rig, and Nitrodrome POIs. These are Megalo Don, The Machinist, and Ringmaster Scarr respectively roaming the three locations.
Defeat them and receive buffs and gameplay advantages. Ringmaster Scarr’s Medallion will give you infinite ammo and a small damage buff, The Machinist’s Medallion will regenerate your Shield over time and Megalo Don’s Medallion will infuse you with infinite Nitro.
New wave of collaborations and skins
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 will bring several collabs to the game throughout the season. One is the Lethal Company collab which has now been leaked and consists of the actual character skin from the popular game and the Company Jig signature emote.
Several skins including the Starter Pack were also decrypted which will soon be added to the game.
Miscellaneous changes
The new Fortnite season also brings several significant changes to other modes and the overall gameplay and UI experience for players. Here’s all of them:
- Each item in the Item Shop has its own date when it rolls out of the shop.
- New UI for Mod Benches.
- Fortnite Festival now supports Pro Lead and Pro Bass song parts on PC and console without a guitar controller.
- You get a free 15,000 XP for opening the Accolades Collection Tab.
