Fortnitemares is one of the most anticipated annual events in Fortnite and it’s set to return for another edition in 2024.
For the most part, the island in Fortnite may look like it’s always bright and sunny – but that doesn’t mean the game is off-limits when it comes to adding spooky things, especially during Halloween.
Every year, Fortnite hosts several in-game events, but among the most thrilling is the Halloween-themed Fortnitemares. As ever, it is expected to be jam-packed with all-new spooky crossovers, cosmetics, quests, and other goodies.
While the Fortnitemares event isn’t live yet at the time of writing, we’ve gathered everything we know about what you can expect in the upcoming event.
When does Fortnitemares 2024 start?
Fortnitemares 2024 will start on October 11, 2024, alongside the 31.40 update. This was confirmed after trusted leaker ShiinaBR revealed the update release date had been changed to October 11 within Fortnite’s official Roadmap.
Fortnitemares typically begins mid-October and runs through to the end of the month, lasting around two weeks. Despite no exact start time being given, judging by previous years, it is likely to kick off at around 6 AM PT/ 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST.
Everything coming in the Fortnitemares event
Epic has started teasing that the Fortnitemares event is coming soon by placing various pumpkins at the new Rift Beacon locations around the map. These beacons were destroyed and moved following the Doctor Doom live event and can be found at the Grand Glacier and Brawler’s Battleground POI.
The fan-favorite Halloween event has been released every year since 2017. Every year the Battle Royale island map receives an overhaul of fog and various decorations to get players in the spirit.
It is also set to include its own Halloween-themed quests, NPCs, skins, cosmetics, new and returning classic weapons, and of course crossovers from the biggest horror franchises. Despite Epic not making any official Fortnitemares announcements, see below for all the leaked details so far.
Leaker Wensoing has also dug deep into the game files and discovered that there will be an upcoming Boss NPC on the map this year.
So far not many details have been revealed, other than it has the codename initials “PB” and “will drop a Legendary Wood Stake Shotgun, Legendary Pumpkin Launcher, and Flowberry Fizz.”
On September 18, Fortnite started teasing a Saw collab on the map. If you head to the attic of Castle Doom, you can spot a turned on TV. In its initial stages, it only shows static and noise, but that could change at any minute.
All Halloween crossover rumors
With Fortnite being so focused on its Marvel-themed Absolute Doom season, there haven’t been as many leaks and rumors as fans of the event had hoped for. However, we’ll continue to update you as more are revealed.
Anti-Venom skin
With Iron Spider and Black Cat introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 as new standalone skins in the Item Shop, the addition of another Outfit from the world of Spider-Man doesn’t seem too far-fetched.
Fall Guys leaker FGLeaksAndInfo has highlighted that several Marvel Collabs already existing in Fortnite has been added to Fall Guys. But, one that isn’t in the Battle Royale is the Anti-Venom skin, which has led many to suspect that this may be added for Fortnitemares 2024.

In June, HYPEX also revealed that the official Twitter/X account for the iconic movie’s main character Jason Voorhees replied to a tweet regarding what collabs should come to Fortnite.
According to the leaker, the popular morning show Good Day New York previously stated that Paramount would be announcing that Jason Voorhees would be coming to Fortnite at some point. With Fortnitemares 2024 just around the corner, then it seems likely that he could be introduced as part of the Halloween event.
Saw
Leaker Xgamer360 has spotted references to the Saw franchise in Fortnite code, suggesting Billy the Puppet could debut during the spooky festivities. If true, this would mark Fortnite’s first collaboration in the long-running horror series from Lionsgate.
After the 30.30 update went live, HYPEX was able to all but confirm this, as they uncovered some key art that shows Billy the Puppet riding his signature bicycle. This bike will also be added as a Mythic item called “Boom Billy,” which locks on to enemies and explodes on contact.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The same artwork also revealed that Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will appear in Fortnitemares 2024. He can be seen on the left of the image, armed with his usual weapon of choice.
It’s likely that both Leatherface and Billy will arrive as skins, but it remains to be seen if they’ll also show up on the map as NPCs.
Nightmare Before Christmas (Wave 2)
According to Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, a second wave for Nightmare Before Christmas may also be coming. Seeing how the Jack Skellington skin was released on Fortnitemares last year, it’s likely that another character from Tim Burton’s masterpiece could be coming to the game.
Though this is still a rumor for now, so do take the information with a grain of salt.
LEGO Fortnite Halloween event
A mysterious LEGO Fortnite Halloween trailer was leaked by creator Crafty Plays LEGO Fortnite, which he stated “fell into my DM’s.”
It starts with bold text stating: “This October, prepare to be haunted.” It then showcases a few in-game screenshots of new areas and a new strange spider-type creature for the upcoming update. The short clip just ends by announcing it is coming soon to LEGO Islands, with no further details being announced.
Fortnitemares 2024 Creator Callout
In this year’s Halloween event, Epic is giving creators a chance to get their social islands featured in the Fortnitemares Discover row. As announced in a blog post, these islands must use proximity chat. Some examples of the game modes for these islands are as follows:
- Survival
- Escape
- Social Deduction
There are other requirements as well aside from these, such as how the islands must capture “the essence of October,” which includes “eerie, haunted elements.”
The team also mentioned that creating a “unique, well-crafted environment” will make the island stand out even more. Either way, these already seem like an exciting addition outside of the usual regular Battle Royale mode.
