Fortnite’s Item Shop continues to be a hot topic for fans, and one player feels the LEGO collaboration is at fault.
Chapter 5 Season 1 marked a huge milestone in Fortnite, as three new game modes joined the battle royale. One of the new modes is LEGO Fortnite marking yet another massive entity Epic Games has partnered with to bring a new layer to Fortnite.
As part of the collaboration, players can now select LEGO versions of some of their skins for use in the previously mentioned mode.
That said, some players aren’t fond of the effect LEGO is having in-game, notably with the Item Shop’s rotation as of late.
Fortnite player claims LEGO collab killed this season’s Item Shop
This season’s Item Shop has been a pain point for Fortnite players, with the game’s forums and socials often obliterating the shop’s selection of items. To add to that, a hotfix deployed earlier this week has removed the Item Shop’s countdown timer, creating a layer of FoMO that fans deemed “unnecessary.”
The main criticism comes from the game’s subreddit, where Fortnite player Skull-OWar critically states: “LEGO has single-handedly killed the Item Shop.”

They went on: “Notice how the only skins that have been coming out have LEGO versions? Probably some stupid deal Epic made with LEGO that mostly stops them from putting in skins that don’t have LEGO versions.”
Skull-OWar was also critical of LEGO Fortnite, saying it feels like a “crappy Minecraft or Terraria clone.” They also pointed out other grievances such as The Weeknd dominating the Item Shop, most likely due to him headlining the Festival mode.
Their opinion wasn’t unpopular with players chiming in with similar thoughts. “They completely removed the Daily & Featured tabs and added this sh*tty signature LEGO style tab which only includes the same 30 skins and emotes,” one player stated.
Another said: “The community is being very vocal about what they want in the Item Shop and most of the skins that are wanted even have a LEGO version, so I don’t understand what the game plan is at Epic right now.”
With the Item Shop seemingly in dire need of changes, here’s hoping Epic Games sees the feedback and acts accordingly.
