Bots are supposed to make the games easier and help new players learn. However, it seems this “scary” bot has taught one player a lesson instead.
Bots were first introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 1, for the sole reason of helping new players familiarize themselves with the game, though sometimes they’re also used to fill up lobbies.
You’ll often see them behaving in a predictable way. Missing their shots, breaking walls for no reason, moving in a straight line — these are just some of the things that a bot would usually do. Hence why, in most cases, it’s easy to tell whether you’re up against a real person or a bot.
Typically, players won’t have to break a sweat when they encounter one, but it looks like that was not the case for one certain player.
In a Reddit thread titled “Nobody believes me when I say bots are scary,” one player shared a clip showing their experience meeting a terrifying bot during their match.
It started with the player descending to the ground with their glider. Due to the visual cue, they noticed that someone was nearby and quickly turned around in the direction the sound was coming from.

At this point, the player had spotted a bot swimming. Despite the player putting up their Ballistic Shield and pointing their weapon at the bot, it did not react and carried on its business.
For a while, it didn’t fight back despite being attacked. However, in a surprising turn of events, all of a sudden the bot fired their weapon, breaking the player’s shield in an instant.
Before the player could do anything, they were sprayed with a barrage of bullets and eliminated in the blink of an eye. And just like that, the OP was sent back to the lobby. Other players quickly flocked to this thread, sharing their reactions regarding what the user went through.
One of the top responses was, “I would be terrified if someone came flipping towards me like that.” This was followed by a reply saying, “That bot was enjoying every second of that swim, practicing their diving skills while at it, too, lol.”
“And you thought you were hunting him,” mentioned another. Meanwhile, some players were confused as to how it managed to break his shield so quickly. Looking at another reply, one user claimed that bots could have “random aim” and that OP just “got really unlucky.”
