Two independent reports claim that Fortnite Battle Royale will launch on Android as soon as August, but there is a major catch – only one phone model will be able to play it initially.
As the most popular game in the world, Fortnite’s release on Android was inevitable, and Epic Games confirmed earlier in 2018 that it is coming this summer.
Since then however, it has gone pretty silent, and while there have been plenty of rumors, nothing official or concrete has ever come out about an Android version of the battle royale game.
But, new reports from 9to5Google and XDA Developers have released information from anonymous sources, that say Fortnite will be announced for Android on August 9 – but will be exclusive to the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for 30 days.

Citing trusted sources, both reports state that the Android release will be tied in with Samsung’s next major phone launch, which is set for release on August 24, with pre-orders starting on August 14.

“The launch of Fortnite on Android is going to come as a special promotion alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which is set to be announced in just a couple weeks, our source says. Logic would suggest, then, that the game’s Play Store listing should pop up around the same time the Note 9 becomes publicly available.”
XDA Developers’ source also tells them that Epic and Samsung are hoping to get Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, the top Fortnite streamer on board to promote the launch, possibly at Samsung Unpacked 2018.
Both reports came out separate to one another, and report the same information, making this Epic-Samsung deal more likely.
9to5Google also reports that users who get the Galaxy Note 9 for Fortnite exclusivity will receive a massive V-Bucks haul too, worth $100-$150.
If the sources are correct, the phone will launch with Fortnite exclusivity on August 24 lasting for 30 days, which means other Android phone users can expect it in late September.
