Epic Games has announced that three items will be removed from Fortnite with the game’s latest v7.20 content update and some members of the online community can’t believe the Grappler is one of them.
Players will also no longer be able to get their hands on a Port-A-Fortress or a Quad Rocket, as they have all been sent to the Epic’s mysterious vault.
Fans tend to expect some items, more than others, to be removed sooner or later. However, this recent patch seems to have split people down the middle, with some players completely baffled about the removal of the mobility item.
The Grappler’s removal comes just days after FaZe Clan’s Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney called for action to be taken regarding the Grappler, having walked and talked his viewers through a terrible exploit that could be used with the item.
“They need to fucking nerf it or just take the Grappler out, it’s stupid. It’s actually dumb. You can’t prevent it, like you’re getting the high ground 1000%. There’s nothing you can do” he explained.
Was removing it the right choice? Members of the Fortnite community have had their say on the debate now that it’s officially gone.
THE GRAPPLER HAS BEEN VAULTED ARE YOU INSANE… YOU ADD ZOMBIES BACK, MAKE NORMAL GAMES UNPLAYABLE BECAUSE OF MIST, AND THEN REMOVE GRAPPLERS. NICE MOVE @FortniteGame, VERY EPIC

One of the most op items in the game got vaulted, the grappler, and people are complaining? It literally was an item for people that can’t build to get high ground. So happy it’s gone

While the Grappler looks to be the most polarizing removal from the v7.20 content update, the item did have its issues – as Tfue laid out.

It remains to be seen if another mobility item will be introduced in the future to take its place.
One fan, though, thinks a future solution might also be found in the vault.
Omg they actually vaulted the grappler! I hope they bring back impulses. They were a more risky and skill based for of mobility.
