Loads of skins have been released since Fortnite first launched, allowing players to dive into the battle royale’s map as characters from Marvel, and even some of the world’s biggest stars like Billie Eilish or Snoop Dogg.
With endless amounts of collabs and skins being constantly released each month, Fortnite has earned a reputation for featuring some of the best skins and cosmetics in gaming. But how many are there?
How many Fortnite skins are there in 2025?
There have been approximately 2036 skins released in Fortnite as of January 2025.
This number includes skins from loads of different categories including Battle Pass skins, Item Shop skins, and Crew Pack skins, as well as any skins that could be unlocked for free during special events.
Many of these were only available to unlock during a specific season, while others haven’t been seen in the Item Shop for years and are considered some of the rarest skins around – so the chances are you’ll never be able to see them all in the game.
Collaboration skins
Epic has added over 400 collaboration skins in Fortnite from pop culture through various crossovers. Major franchises have also often returned to unleash fresh new Outfits and cosmetics, which has racked up the numbers.
Here are all the biggest skin collabs and how many Fortnite Outfits have been released from them:
Skin trends
December was a huge month for Fortnite and this included an influx of several collaboration skins from the biggest franchises to round out the year.
Epic finally introduced new DC skins in Chapter 6 Season 1, with the Ninja Knight Batman and Karuta Harley Quinn Outfits. The devs also announced that “DC favorites are rolling back into the shop throughout December,” which has seen several classic skins finally able to be obtained again.
Overall, this was a shift welcomed by the player base, especially for more veteran players who had seen no additions to the DC lineup since October 22, 2022, when Black Adam debuted in Chapter 3 Season 4.
The extended hiatus in DC releases had fueled speculation within the Fortnite community. Many believed Disney’s partial ownership of Epic Games was steering the focus toward Disney-owned franchises like Marvel and Star Wars. However, the DC-focused updates and official announcements suggest that the partnership with DC Comics remains active and thriving—for now.
Two of the most highly-anticipated skins this season were the Japanese Samurai-themed versions of Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper. These Star Wars outfits not only aligned perfectly with the season’s theme, but also paid homage to the Samurai armor that inspired Darth Vader’s original design.

In Chapter 6, Marvel has once again taken the lead so far among Fortnite’s top collaborators, adding four new skins to the Battle Royale. Three of these come from the Spider-Verse: Spider-Punk, Spider-Man Noir, and Peter B. Parker. Additionally, the Marvel Rivals event launched on December 6, introducing the striking Doom 2099 skin as part of the crossover lineup.
While Fortnite continues to collaborate with various other pop culture franchises, Disney-owned properties have remained the dominant force.
Icon Series skins
There have been 88 Icon Series skins in Fortnite. These contain Outfits for the biggest creators and stars from Music and Sport.
Here is how many of each Icon Series category has been released:
Icon Series category | How many skins |
---|---|

Sport | 21 |
Creators | 15 |
Skin trends
The influx of music stars joining the game has skyrocketed since the launch of Fortnite’s Festival mode on December 3, 2023, alongside Chapter 5. Each season now features a new music headliner for the Music Pass, with every artist or band bringing multiple exclusive skins to the game.
So far, the lineup of headliners has included The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Metallica, Karol G, and Snoop Dogg. Additionally, earlier Fortnite collaborators like Marshmello, Ariana Grande, J Balvin, and Eminem have received new skins in the Item Shop.
In 2024, Fortnite’s Icon Series also welcomed two prominent creators and two legendary sports stars.
Creator Nick Eh 30 debuted his skin in Chapter 5 Season 3, followed by Rubius in the subsequent season. On the sports front, NBA icon Shaquille O’Neal joined the roster in October, followed by soccer icon Lionel Messi in December, cementing their status as global superstars in Fortnite’s ever-growing universe.
The Winterfest 2024 event brought a festive flair to Fortnite at the end of the year with the arrival of bonus Santa Shaq and Santa Snoop skins. Completing the Christmas celebration, Mariah Carey finally joined with two dazzling skins, to make her debut in the Item Shop as the queen of holiday season.
Of course, the total figure will most likely increase over the next few months as more new skins and big-name collaborations come to fruition. We’ll keep this page updated to stay on top of the Outfit figures.
