During Fortnite’s Birthday bash, the Flare Gun is back in action, but with a flashy upgrade – now it’s the Firework Flare Gun.
Epic Games is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Fortnite’s 7th Birthday, and yes, that includes bringing the Firework Flare Gun to the party. This thing lets you light up enemies lurking nearby and flush them out with a blaze of fireworks.
That said, with all the shiny new additions in the update, finding the Firework Flare Gun is a bit of a challenge – figuring out how to use it effectively? Not exactly a walk in the park either.
Where is the Firework Flare Gun
You can find the Firework Flare Gun inside birthday presents and regular chests, though the spawn rate of the latter is quite limited.
The birthday presents, in turn, can be found as floor loot, inside chests, and obtained through supply drops. Keep in mind that they are legendary, so they’re not so easy to find.
Once you’ve got a present, equip it, and throw it somewhere safe. Then, break one of its walls to find out what lies inside – if you’re lucky, it could be a Firework Flare Gun or, even better, a Birthday Medallion.

As noted by the official Fortnite Status account, a bug prevented the Firework Flare Gun from spawning during the first few hours of the update, but it’s been fixed now.
How to use the Firework Flare Gun
The Firework Flare Gun works just like the regular Flare Gun. You use it to spot and mark enemies with a red marker above their heads. After being fired, it marks opponents in a 50m radius for a solid minute.
There’s a clear plus to the Firework Flare Gun: it also burns wooden structures. This means that if you’re a fan of regular Battle Royale mode, you can set your enemy’s constructions ablaze, as long as they didn’t use any other, sturdier material.
That’s everything you need to know about the Firework Flare Gun. With everything added in v31.20, you might want to catch up on all the free skins, like Felina.
