Fortnite has returned the Shield Breaker EMP grenades back to the loot pool as a viable counter to War Machine’s Arsenal in Chapter 5 Season 4.
Epic has unvaulted the Shield Breaker EMP grenades in v31.10, the season’s first major update. While the throwable proved to be a useful counter against Nitro Cars last season, they are claimed to disable War Machine’s Arsenal equipment, which includes the Auto Turret, Hover Jets, and Hand Cannons.

How to get the Shield Breaker EMP in Chapter 5 Season 4
To get the Shield Breaker EMP in Fortnite, you will find it as ground loot or inside loot chests, supply drones, Doom chests, and Avengers chests across the Battle Royale map during Chapter 5 Season 4.
If you throw the EMP grenade, it will explode, causing damage to shields and momentarily disabling electrical equipment and vehicles. When thrown at enemies, they deal 80 Shield damage, and you can stack up to six EMP grenades in one weapon slot.

These can be hurled at a player using any War Machine equipment to temporarily disable them. With the Hover Jets movement meta sweeping over the Battle Royale action, players now have a viable counter to overpowering their opponents using any of those OP items.
If you’re wondering how long the effect of these grenades lasts, it’s between 10-15 seconds, depending on the item you toss them at.
