Fortnite has added a Marvel-themed LTM to Chapter 5 Season 4 which demands you choose a side and emerge victorious. Here’s how you can play Day of Doom and lead your team to Victory Royale.
Ever since the launch of the Absolute Doom season, Fortnite players have been asking for a limited-time mode similar to the Endgame LTM, Knockout LTM, and some more they experienced in past Marvel-themed seasons.
Now with the 31.20 patch, Epic has added a new Day of Doom LTM in Chapter 5 Season 4 which allows players to choose a side – either Doom’s Army or the Avengers – and use iconic superpowers while completing objectives.
If you’re playing it for the first time in Fortnite, here’s how it works and the best ways to claim a Victory Royale or Victory Von Doom.
How to launch Day of Doom
The Day of Doom LTM is live in Fortnite’s Discover row under the ‘By Epic’ category. Once you find the tile, click on it and hit Select to load the mode in your lobby. Alternatively, you can also look for the LTM by searching it by name on the Search tab.
The mode can accommodate up to 32 players in a single lobby, which will further be split into two teams of 16 players each divided amongst Doom’s Henchmen and Allies of the Avengers.
How to play Day of Doom
As mentioned earlier, the game mode divides players into two teams, each with their own set of objectives to complete to win. Both teams have Health and Shield that regenerate outside of combat, are immune to fall damage, and have infinite ammo for all weapons in your loadout.
For Doom’s Henchmen, the goal is to collect all six Arcane Artifacts. They will randomly appear on the map where you need to interact with them for 6 seconds to collect them. Once you’ve collected all six artifacts, your enemies will no longer be able to respawn. Eliminate every hero on the map and you’ll emerge victorious.
Furthermore, the first Doom henchman to collect an artifact will become Doom’s Chosen, donning the Ultra Doom Armor that can unleash abilities like the Scorch Beam and Mystical Gigabomb. If Doom’s Chosen is defeated, another henchman after a short time will be randomly chosen to wield the armor.
As one of Doom’s henchmen, you’ll load into the match with items like Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets to take on the Avengers. Plus, as your team collects Arcane Artifacts, your arsenal will get some upgrades.
As for the Avengers, their goal is to take down Doom’s forces before they collect the Artifacts. Doom’s Henchmen have a total of 80 respawns altogether, so you reach victory once you and your fellow Avengers have depleted it all, including the Doom’s Chosen enemy.
Every respawn, heroes in Day of Doom will have one of four randomly assigned loadouts, each based on a different Avenger.
How do Arcane Artifacts work?
Arcane Artifacts are objective-based collectible items that look like glowing orange stones and randomly spawn around the island during an ongoing Day of Doom match. They grant no special ability to players, except for the first time they are collected.
At a time, only one or two artifacts will land on the map like a meteor. Players will be prompted to “look up to the sky” when an artifact is landing on the island.
You’ll see an artifact icon appear on your HUD and how far it is from your current location. Only Doom Henchmen can collect an Arcane Artifact since they are the ones who need to secure six of them to win the game.
The first Henchman who collects an artifact becomes Doom’s Chosen with Ultra Doom Armor, however, when he’s eliminated, another player who has collected an artifact randomly dons the armor. If your team manages to get the two artifacts that have landed on the map at one point in time, the following will appear gradually during the match.
However, if the Avengers manage to protect an artifact for a considerable amount of time, it disappears and spawns in a different location. The game goes on until either Doom’s Henchmen side has collected all six artifacts or the Avengers have depleted all respawns of the enemy team.

Best weapons to use
Despite the game mode offering almost every weapon available to players in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, only a few shine among the rest. If you’re wondering what weapons to use if you’re on either side, here are the best ones we recommend:
Best weapons for Doom’s Henchmen
- Doctor Doom’s Arcane Gauntlets
- Combat Assault Rifle
- Shockwave Grenade
- Ultra Doom Armor
If you’re playing on the side of Doom, there’s no better weapon than the Arcane Gauntlets to rely on. You can use the Arcane Blasts and the Mystical Bomb to damage enemies. However, they best work when you’re on high ground or jumping high above in the air, thanks to your unlimited Shockwave Grenades.
Another weapon that can really save you against Avenger weapons like the Iron Man Unibeam is the Combat AR which deals incredible damage to enemies and comes with a Holo Optic to make those shots land accurately.
Lastly, the Ultra Doom Armor is the best weapon in the game mode, so if you do manage to get it, head fearlessly into battle but beware of the Unibeam which can drain your health significantly.
Best weapons for the Avengers
- Dual Micro SMGs
- Rift-to-Gos
- War Machine’s Arsenal
- War Machine’s Hover Jets
- Stark Industries Energy Rifle
- Iron Man’s Combat Kit
- Iron Man’s Flight Kit
If you’re on the Avengers’ side, your hero loadout will shuffle each time you respawn. Out of those, Dual Micro SMGs stand out as the perfect weapon. You’ll be engaged in a lot of close encounters with Doom’s Henchmen for which you’ll need a quicker pray-and-spray weapon to dish out some quick damage, for which these SMGs work flawlessly.
On the other hand, if you’re stuck with Shuri’s claws, don’t bother using them too much and keep using the Rift-To-Gos to rather focus on the objective and get eliminated as soon as possible. Next up, if you get the War Machine loadout, the Arsenal rockets and turret can help you save the day while you fly around using your Hover Jets.
Clear out an area swarming with Henchmen in seconds using the Arsenal Rockets which can help your team largely in protecting an artifact. Lastly, all three Stark tech weapons, the Energy Rifle, Iron Man’s Combat Kit, and Iron Man’s Flight Kit are perfect for the LTM and deal significant damage to even Ultra Doom.
Fly around using the Flight Kit and fire your Unibeam at Doom’s Chosen to drain his health in mere seconds. Next, use your repulsors to damage the henchmen and take out the Energy Rifle for a final blow.
Lastly, we recommend you not to use Captain America’s Shield as it won’t get you anywhere and will fail in protecting you against Doom Gauntlet shots.
Best ways to win
How to win as Heroes
If you’re spawned as a hero, you’ll be granted any of the four hero load-outs above to begin with. Make sure you land at the location where the first Artifact will drop as heroes can see it early on.
Once you spot it, drop to that location, start building a metal structure around the artifact with the help of your teammates, and lock the area down. Now make sure one of your teammates stays inside the structure with a pray-and-spray weapon like the Dual Micro SMGs.
The rest of the players should focus on wiping out Ultra Doom (spawns if the opposing team has collected one artifact) and the henchmen a total of 80 times. The main strategy should be to W-key as many enemies in the lobby as you can and play on the aggressive side since you’re armed with unlimited respawns.
At the same time, lock down areas by traveling between artifacts and building structures around them to create a defense barrier against the henchmen. Lastly, if you come one-on-one with Ultra Doom, start cranking 90s, and call in help from a teammate who has the new Iron Man mythic items, they’re the perfect counter against Doom.
How to win as Doom’s Henchman
Playing as Doom’s Henchman is a no-brainer − especially when you’ve got a 1000 HP monster on your side. As soon as you jump out of the bus, land exactly at the artifact location and use Doom’s Mystical Bomb to wipe out any hero lurking there.
From there, capture the artifact yourself or assist a teammate to summon Ultra Doom. Once he’s here, rotate around the map with him and focus on capturing every artifact as quickly as possible.
When you’ve got the Doom Gauntlets, make sure to always stay on the high ground and fire some arcane shots and the mystical bomb at enemies. Furthermore, if your health gets low, don’t fret − just find a quiet corner to camp and your health regen should kick in shortly.
Don’t bother using the Monarch Pistol or the Sovereign Shotgun since you’ll mostly be using the Combat AR and the Arcane Gauntlets. Also, make sure to use the Shockwave Grenades strategically since they have a cooldown.
Hence it’s best you deploy them if you’re in danger or you want to rotate to the next artifact quicker. Capture as many artifacts as you can before your respawns end. Once you’ve done that, push the hero team since their unlimited respawns are off so you’re good to eliminate every Avenger on the island and claim the Victory Von Doom.
