The Marshmello concert in Fortnite was a huge success for both Epic Games and the EDM DJ but just how some of the elements came together may be cause for a surprise for some fans.
During the show, the popular EDM DJ called on fans to perform their favorite emotes, to jump and down at certain points when the in-game gravity was turned off and other general shouts to the dancers in what seemed like a pre-recorded manner.
While the majority of the show may have been pre-setup and recorded, the DJ confirmed after the show, to streamer Jack ‘CourageJD’ Dunlop, that everything he said was being broadcast in real-time – in a real technological feat for Epic Games.
Courage asked the EDM DJ: “Your voice and everything, that was all pre-recorded right?” However, the answer that he received wasn’t the one that he and his chat were probably expecting.
“That was all live, man!” Marshmello responded. “That was the whole thing, so you know, in the very early workings of it all we weren’t sure what could be handled as far as bandwidth and stuff like live voice, and live everything.”

The popular musician explained that Epic Games figured out what needed to be figured out to give fans an absolutely incredible experience during the party.
He added: “But they (Epic) took their time and figured it all out and when it was time to go they had it all sorted. Stuff like that is what makes it next level.”
The original show was re-broadcast as an encore event during the early hours of the morning so that fans who may have missed the 2 pm EST performance could get a look at what happened.
