Fortnite Battle Royale might well have one whole quarter of its map dedicated to a snow biome, but it looks increasingly likely that it could all come to an end in Season 9 as Polar Peak has started to break.
Epic Games decided to introduced a number of major changes to the gameplay of the popular battle royale title at the beginning of Season 7, by removing points of interest such as Flush Factory and Greasy Grove to make way for all new snow biome.
However, their replacements – Polar Peak, Happy Hamlet and Frosty Flights – have since started to feel outdated, particularly the latter as X-4 Stormwing planes are no longer available as a form of transport. A runway without planes is no runway at all.
Following the v9.10 update being released, it doesn’t take good eyesight to see that Polar Peak now has a huge crack down the middle of the iceberg. With the surface looking particularly unstable, plus the rumbling sounds that players are hearing near the location, it looks set to fall sometime in the near future.
Interestingly, footage captured by players also seems to suggest that there could be something trapped inside the ice that’s waiting to break free, as seen below.

Dragons coming soon to Fortnite Season 9?
With so many dragon rumors circulating since Season 7 began, with eggs spotted nearby, there’s no doubt that those who still believe one will emerge from the ice will be excited by the possibility of it happening in Season 9. Though, it is a long shot.
Whether or not the ice falling from the location would result in the entire snow biome being removed remains to be seen, but with rumors of Greasy Grove returning in a NEO style – much like the newly revamped Tilted Towers and Mega Mall locations – there’s a good chance that it could spell the end for the snow.
