Fortnite is no stranger to quirky bugs and over the top exploits, and a newly discovered bug could lead to your next Victory Royale as players have uncovered a way of phasing through enemy structures.
Placing a building block overhead often provides a sense of security in knowing that enemies can’t simply build up overhead and drop down into your structure with ease. On paper, this gives you ample time to heal up and reload your weapons before breaking out and entering combat once again.
A devastating exploit has been discovered that puts ceilings to shame, however, as players are now able to phase through materials and get the jump on anyone below.
With enemies standing overhead of any given structure, a common strategy for those trapped underneath is to simply spam a ceiling block over and over in order to stay alive for a few vital seconds.
This method ensures that singular opponents won’t be quick enough to smash their way through until your building materials have been depleted that is. A new exploit is capable of nullifying this entire process however.
As demonstrated in a January 6 post from Reddit user ‘Jrizmo,’ attacking foes are now easily able to phase through ceiling blocks by building a small structure of their own. Connecting a flat wooden block to any side of the ceiling and then cutting it in half will enable the cheeky exploit.

Once the structure is in place, all that’s needed is for the player to stand directly in line with the center of the building block and beginning hacking away at the connected roof.
Clearly an oversight from the developers at Epic Games, for whatever reason the presence of this new piece allows players to phase through blocks underneath them in a matter of seconds.
According to comments from various members of the Fortnite community, the effect can also be replicated by having your back to any wall and digging down just the same. In fact, this method might be even safer as to block a line of sight from potential third-party opposition.
If you plan on bunkering down while enemies are nearby before this issue is resolved, be sure to keep in mind that a simple build from the competition can have them glitching inside your safe area in no time at all.
Certainly not the only bug that involves falling through sections of the map, a recent bug impacting console players has seen a number of gamers falling through entire buildings.
