Team SoloMid Fortnite team captain Myth has revealed what he thinks could ultimately dethrone Fortnite and take over the battle royale genre.
The popular pro player took to social media on November 15 to predict that if there’s ever a battle royale game created that has good counterplay mechanics and no RNG, it could unseat Fortnite from its throne.
RNG refers to Random Number Generator, which is a mechanic used to determine things such as luck in looting and shot accuracy.
Myth’s idea is a bit radical, considering that RNG is, and always has been, a staple of the modern battle royale genre, a fact that he acknowledged in his tweet.
“It probably won’t look/play anything like modern-day BR’s,” he tweeted. “But it will push the genre to places it’s never been.”
First battle royal with good counterplay mechanics and 0 RNG will be the Fortnite killer.

The comments section of the tweet shortly became full of discussion, with several users mentioning Darwin’s Project as a game that fits Myth’s description.
However, Myth shot that idea down by calling it “the most unattractive combat system since Minecraft PVP.”
Others contended that nothing could ever kill or unseat Fortnite, and that if the ultra-popular game were to die out, it would be because of its own doing or a massive shift in the players’ interests.
As one of the most influential members of the Fortnite community, Myth has always been vocal and outspoken when it comes to expressing his views on the game and developers Epic Games.
While his opinions have not always been positive, he has always been genuine in his intentions to improve and perfect the game for all players, which is why Epic likely take his comments, such as the one made today, with a grain of salt.
