With many fans arguing Fortnite’s regular content drops are slowing down, here’s when to expect a Season 3 update, and when the current Season 2 of Chapter 2 will come to an end.
It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly 6 months since the black hole swallowed Fortnite’s first chapter, and spat back out Fortnite Chapter 2. Despite initially being praised as the savior of Fortnite, many fans argue that the length of Chapter 2: Season 1 caused the game to lag back into uninspired.
Starting back in October of 2019, Season 1 finally came to a conclusion on February 20, nearly 5 and a half months after it started. In that time, many players argued that new content dried up, and the game became stale. However, as is customary, Season 2 brought with it new content and now, a month on, some players are thinking forwards to what Season 3 will bring, and when it will drop.
When does Fortnite Season 3 start?
Originally, the second season wasn’t set to last nearly as long as Season 1. Season 2 was set to end on April 30, 2020. However, on April 14, Epic announced that they would be extending it past this original end date.
Season 2 is now set to end towards the beginning of June, with the Season 3 start date officially pushed back to June 4.

In the meantime, Epic has promised fans “multiple game updates on the way that will deliver fresh gameplay, new Challenges, bonus XP, and a couple more surprises.”
Given the current global situation, a delay to Season 3 was honestly not much of a surprise. It almost entirely depended on how well Epic Games were able to cope, in terms of staff attendance and other obvious factors that had recently become issues.
With Season 3 officially being pushed back, we can still expect some Overtime Challenges to be added as we approach the end of Season 2, though.
