When will Fortnite Chapter 2 start? Leaks reveal Season 11 downtime info [Update]

With so many Fortnite Battle Royale players wondering when the game will be turned back on for Season 11 / Chapter 2, data-miners have discovered and leaked files that provide new information about the downtime’s possible length.

The Fortnite community was sent into a state of confusion and shock on October 13 when the highly anticipated ‘The End’ event led to the game being essentially turned off.

Instead of closing the book on Season 10 and kickstarting the launch of Season 11, also known as Chapter 2, the massive in-game spectacle reduced the game to nothing more than a black screen with a mysterious blue circle floating in the middle.

When is Fortnite coming back?

With players desperately scouring social media and the internet for answers, prominent data-miner ‘Lucas7yoshi‘ uncovered some new details about when Fortnite could be back.

According to his tweet, the code from the game’s official website indicated that ‘The End’ event was schedule to end on Tuesday, October 15, at 3 AM PST / 6 AM EST.

It must be noted that even the data-miner himself made it clear that “this is not stuck in stone,” meaning that the offered time may not be totally accurate.

Furthermore, fellow data-miner HYPEX, one of the most trusted sources of leaks around, responded to that discovery by reminding fans that those times are “always a bit off.”

“Fortnite’s website says that this black hole is ending on 15 Tuesday, but I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen,” he tweeted. “Most of their scheduled times are always a bit off or not correct!”

Sooner than we thought?

A further, fresh, rumor suggested that the game could return on Monday, October 14, as the Chinese Fortnite website is counting down to 4:05pm EST. 

Update: This time has come and gone with no sign of a new season in sight.

That would mean that the battle royale would make its return at 9pm BST, 10pm CEST, and 6:55am AEST.

Late on October 14, another potential clue was discovered, albeit one not requiring a data-miner. Mixer star Tyler ‘Ninja‘ Blevins, who has always maintained a close relationship with Epic over the years, tweeted out that he would reveal a hint about Fortnite Chapter 2 if his tweet got 250,000 retweets.

Upon reaching that mark, he posted a video of himself saying “tacos,” which many interpreted to mean “Taco Tuesday” and hinting at the event ending on Tuesday, just as the leak above suggests.

He did backtrack on it later, tweeting out “Or is it Minecraft Monday???,” so there’s a chance Ninja doesn’t have any insider info and is simply pulling everyone’s leg. 

However, the Monday and Tuesday start time rumors could very well be incorrect regardless of who you listen to – as new code on the Epic Games website hints at a later time. 

On the website, the code states that the ‘end time’ will finish on Thursday, October 17, which is different to the October 15 code that had been uncovered earlier.

Whenever Fortnite does end up getting turned back on, Epic will likely rest assured knowing that they squeezed a lot of publicity and attention for their iconic battle royale title, and created a lot of excitement and anticipation for what lays in store once Chapter 2 kicks off.
