Black Myth: Wukong is all about creating opportunities for yourself to defeat bosses and this is made possible through the various Stances available at your disposal.
There’s so much to combat in Black Myth: Wukong. Whether it’s shapeshifting, perfectly dodging, using spells to freeze the enemy in place, or timing a Stance attack perfectly, each element has to come together for you to defeat what’s in front of you.
However, to do that, you must understand what each Stance can grant you, as they have a pivotal impact on the outcome of your fight. It’s also equally as important to know the best Stance in the game.
Black Myth: Wukong best stance
If you are looking for an all-purpose situation, the Smash Stance is the best one to use in Black Myth: Wukong.
However, you must remember that the use of stances will depend on boss fights and what you are comfortable with. The Pillar Stance allows you to avoid ground attacks against several bosses. The Thrust Stance lets you attack from a range and deal devastating damage which is good for players who aren’t adept at dodging.
Even then, we recommend the Smash Stance as no matter how defensive you get, the fastest way to finish fights is to deal more damage. Most of the boss fights in Black Muth: Wukong have telegraphed moves which you can recognize after a few tries.
Once you are used to the fight, just use the Smash Stance at its full potential and take down the boss in the quickest possible time.
All Stances in Black Myth Wukong
There are three Stances available to choose from in Black Myth Wukong, with each offering a different benefit in combat:
- Smash Stance
- Pillar Stance
- Thrust Stance
Smash Stance explained
This is the first Stance you get to unlock in Black Myth: Wukong and is a simple yet effective one to use. The Smash Stance prioritizes damage over anything else, dealing a massive amount to an enemy further away on the battlefield through a series of flips and one final smash.
One of the key steps to deal damage is by charging up Focus Points. The Smash Stance allows you to disengage from combat and charge up your Focus Points while running. Once fully charged, you can launch them at an enemy to deal devastating damage.
The Smash Stance lets you fight upfront, which means you’ll have to improve your dodging. However, the damage output allows you to quickly deal with bosses.

As you level your stance up, you can engage Resolute Strike, which nullifies an enemy’s damage when timed correctly. You’ll also get Skyfall Strike, a great attack from on high that deals some extremely impressive damage.
Pillar Stance explained
While the Smash Stance focuses solely on damage, the Pillar Stance dives into a mixture of offense and defense. It does this by placing the Destined One higher up in the air, before bringing the staff crashing down onto the enemy’s head.
While the Pillar Stance claims to protect you from ground attacks from bosses, it can be tricky to use. It is because your low stamina bar gets consumed quickly when activating the Pillar Stance and most bosses will knock you down before you can launch a strike.
However, the Pillar Stance starts gaining steam once you unlock the Sweeping Gale ability. It is because you can use it to deal with groups of enemies which is the primary function of this Stance in the long run. You can also unlock Churning Gale, which takes the kicks of Sweeping Gale and finishes it with a powerful final heavy strike.
Thrust Stance explained
This Stance is unlocked a bit later on as you need to be level 20 before accessing it. However, the wait is worth it, as you will realize that the Thrust Stance is exceptionally powerful.
Thrust Stance takes more inspiration from the Smash Stance, focusing on heavy damage, but from a further distance. Unlike the Smash Stance, players can use this to charge into the enemy, releasing a heavy attack into them from range. What’s more, you also stay further away, making it a little more defensive.
Putting Sparks into this Stance will unlock Whirling Thrusts, which can bring you right back into the action after dodging away, beating the enemy with a barrage of small strikes. On top of this, you can unlock Lucky Strike, which turns the Destined One invincible for a short time.
The Thrust Stance comes in handy against bosses with devastating close-range attacks. You can pretty much cheese enemies with one, especially end-game bosses that hit like a truck. It’s also quite suitable for casual players who aren’t looking to play the dodge-centric style.
