EA have announced that Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment are working on an assortment of new Star Wars titles, including a long-awaited first-person shooter set in a galaxy far, far away.
Respawn are no strangers to the world of Star Wars, having created 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on top of their flagship hits such as Apex Legends and the Titanfall series.
On January 25, 2022, EA announced that as well as a brand new iteration in the Star Wars Jedi series, Game Director Peter Hirschmann is leading the development of an as-yet-unnamed Star Wars FPS. Hirschmann previously worked on the likes of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as well as the original Battlefront and Battlefront 2.
Hirschmann said: “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell.”

“We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” said Vince Zampella, head of Respawn. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey.”
On top of the FPS and a new Star Wars Jedi game, the third title is a Star Wars strategy game developed through a production collaboration with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor. Respawn will produce the new Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title.
It’s still early days in the development cycle, and a potential release date, or details on Respawn’s Star Wars FPS, remain a mystery.
