As a shooting game, finding crosshair settings that fit you is a must in Deadlock, and we’ve got all the information you need about adjusting them here.
After months of secret playtesting, Valve has finally acknowledged Deadlock, allowing the world to talk about it and get a proper glimpse of the game in its early stages.
A unique take on the hero shooter and MOBA genre, it’s attempting to balance the two worlds. Being a shooter also means it requires some mastery of aim mechanics in comparison to your average MOBA.
Having the best crosshairs in Deadlock can drastically improve your sessions, and we’ve got a full list of options below, as well as some key tips to keep in mind when you’re customizing.
Best Deadlock crosshairs
Basic crosshair
- Gap: 0
- Width: 0
- Height: 10
- Pip Opacity: 1.00
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 0
- Dot Outline Opacity: 0
- Red: 255
- Green: 255
- Blue: 255
- Console Command: citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -2
This is as simple as it gets, a basic white crosshair that will fit almost everybody out there.
You may notice that even though the gap is put at 0 there is still a gap, that’s because Deadlock’s crosshair has a few bugs that we’ve mentioned above. So to fill in the gap you’ll need to go to the console and input citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -2 to close it.
Basic cross with dot
- Gap: 3
- Width: 0
- Height: 15
- Pip Opacity: 1.00
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 1.00
- Dot Outline Opacity: 0
- Red: 255
- Green: 255
- Blue 255
This crosshair is a relatively simple cross and dot, quite similar to the default one but cleaner and less opaque.
Generally, this will be most player’s pick for a crosshair, as it’s just big enough to see what you’re doing, with a dot in the middle to help you accurately aim at targets.
You may notice that the dot is misaligned, that’s another bug, and hopefully Valve patches it out soon.
Dot crosshair
- Gap: 0
- Width: 0
- Height: 0
- Pip Opacity: 0
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 1.00
- Dot Outline Opacity: 1.00
- Red: 255
- Green: 255
- Blue: 255
- Console commands: citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -5 and citadel_crosshair_pip_height 0.6
If you’d prefer a simple dot as your crosshair, this will be for you.
You may notice the colored dot is slightly off-center from the outline, it’s yet another bug. It would normally be centered.
To try and remedy this, we’ve used the citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -5 and citadel_crosshair_pip_height 0.6 commands to try and get a dot right in the middle, but doesn’t completely fix it.
So if you are a dot crosshair user, you may just have to live with the misalignment until Valve fixes it.
Green crosshair
- Gap: 0
- Width: 0
- Height: 10
- Pip Opacity: 1.00
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 0.65
- Dot Outline Opacity: 0
- Red: 0
- Green: 255
- Blue: 0
This crosshair is quite a simple one that we use, turning it green so it contrasts better against the red enemy outlines and environment.
We’ve also turned down the Dot Opacity to 0.65 so we aren’t distracted by the slight off-centering of the dot, but still useful enough to help us aim.
Purple crosshair
- Gap: 0
- Width: 2
- Height: 13
- Pip Opacity: 1.00
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 0
- Dot Outline Opacity: 0
- Red: 200
- Green: 67
- Blue: 200
This is another simple option, this time it’s purple for anyone who prefers that color.

It should be just large enough for you to aim quickly, but still small so you can aim precisely.
We’ve also opted for a slightly lighter shade of purple because that’s what works best for us, but your eyesight and monitor are different from ours so do adjust the colors to your own liking.
Overall, this is our favorite crosshair from the bunch. We like the purple shade on it, and also the gap is just right to make sure we can aim precisely while letting us flick fast. Although, it may not work out for you so do experiment!
Shroud’s crosshair
- Gap: 0
- Width: 2
- Height: 6
- Pip Opacity: 1.00
- Show Pip Border: Off
- Dot Opacity: 0.7
- Dot Outline Opacity: 0.9
- Red: 0
- Green: 255
- Blue: 255
- Console command: citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -2
Shroud’s Deadlock crosshair is almost identical to his CS2 crosshair, being a small cyan crosshair with an outlined dot in the middle.
To achieve the perfect gap, he uses the citadel_crosshair_pip_gap -2 command in the console. So if you’re someone who likes using his settings in Counter-Strike 2, this should be perfect for you.
Things to know when adjusting your Deadlock crosshair
Being in early access, our crosshair options are quite limited in comparison to Valve’s other games like Counter-Strike 2. However, there are still enough options to make simple adjustments.
But be warned, because of its early-access nature, there are quite a few bugs in the game. Here are some to be aware of before customizing:
- Making Gap zero only makes the crosshair gapless when the height is at 20
- The dot in Dot Opacity is slightly misaligned
- Depending on settings, Pip Opacity can make your crosshair completely black
Of course, these are just early bugs and will no doubt be patched out soon. We’ll be sure to update you here when they are. Nonetheless, if you’re making your own crosshair, you should keep these issues in mind.
Deadlock console commands
Due to the bugs, you’ll need to use a fair few console commands to amend the problems. Below we have listed all the commands for crosshairs and a quick explainer of what each does:
- citadel_crosshair_color_b: Controls how blue the crosshair is
- citadel_crosshair_color_g: Controls how green the crosshair is
- citadel_crosshair_color_r: Controls how red the crosshair is
- citadel_crosshair_dot_opacity: Controls the opacity of the colored dot
- citadel_crosshair_dot_outline_opacity: Controls the opacity of the dot’s outline
- citadel_hit_marker_duration: Controls how long hit markers stay on screen
- citadel_crosshair_pip_border: Turns off or on line borders
- citadel_crosshair_pip_gap: Control the crosshair gap
- citadel_crosshair_pip_height: Controls how long the crosshair lines are
- citadel_crosshair_pip_opacity: Controls the opacity of the colored lines
- citadel_crosshair_pip_width: Controls the width of the lines
To access the console commands you will need to press F7, or you can rebind it in the settings.
Generally, most players will have problems with the gap not closing when it’s set to 0. To amend that you’ll need to head into the console and type citadel_crosshair_pip_gap [insert number]. Going into the negatives will result in the gap closing.
How to add custom crosshairs
While there’s currently no official way to copy custom crosshairs, the Deadlock Crosshair Generator is a fan-made third-party tool that gives players the option. This is how to use it:
- Visit the applications webpage
- Once it’s open you can choose from a variety of crosshair pre-sets
- Line size, color, opacity, and the center dote can all be edited to your preference
- When you’ve finished, hit the Copy config button found on the bottom right of the page
- Launch Deadlock and press the F7 key to open the in-game console
- Paste your code and press the enter key
The new crosshair will now be active in Deadlock. If you find yourself wanting to use a different one, you can easily remove it by opening the Settings menu and selecting Reset to Default.
That’s all you need to know about crosshairs in Deadlock for now. As it’s still in an early playtest, more crosshair options and types will certainly be coming in future patches, so we’ll update you here as work on the game continues.
