Enshrouded is an interesting new Survival Action-RPG from German developer Keen Games GMBH. Taking cues from existing games like Valheim, it offers challenging gameplay loops and fun building mechanics. But can it be played solo?
On the face of it, there is a lot to like about the execution of Enshrouded. The fantasy world of Embervale feels alive and dangerous, filled with evil denizens and interesting locations to explore. The major unique feature is The Shroud, which players must brave to take on the game’s gravest threats.
The game is designed to be played as a multiplayer co-op, with up to sixteen players per map in total. That said, it is possible to play with significantly less, though this may well change how easy progression is overall.

That said, it’s important to note that players who elect to go into the game as individual adventurers may start running into issues. Particularly during the later encounters in the game, it can be difficult to progress alone. That said, it does present a fun challenge, and it is more than possible to finish the game in this way.
There is a strong argument that playing Enshrouded as a duo or a trio is the way to go. There is a nice balance between difficulty, ability to farm resources and practicality in groups of this size and it feels like the format that the game was specifically designed for. The other major benefit of playing alone is having the pick of the loot and treasure.
That’s everything there is to know about playing Enshrouded solo. Now is the time to head out into Embervale and conquer.
