Gamescom 2024 featured a lot of new trailers, announcements, and updates during Opening Night Live, and both Xbox and Bethesda have upcoming streams too, meaning the reveals aren’t over yet.
As is the case every year, game publishers from all over gather at Gamescom to show off upcoming games, hardware, and other related products that directly relate to the gaming space.
Several new trailers and announcements were made during the two-hour Opening Night Live show, giving fans new looks at titles like Monster Hunter Wilds, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Here are the highlights from the shows.
Bethesda and Xbox livestream announcements
Overwatch 2 Juno Hero Trailer
Complementing the release of Juno in Overwatch 2, the Xbox livestream treated fans to her trailer, showcasing her time traveling from Mars to Earth and eventually being picked up by Overwatch themselves.
Gamescom Opening Night Live announcements
Street Fighter 6 Terry Bogard gameplay reveal
The final announcement of the preshow revealed the first look at Terry Bogard gameplay in Street Fighter 6 ahead of the Fatal Fury character joining the fighting game on September 24.
Borderlands 4
The first announcement of the main show revealed Borderlands 4. While the teaser was light on detail and didn’t include any gameplay, it shared that the game will be released in 2025.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Activision showed Call of Duty Black Ops 6 gameplay with a mission called Most Wanted. Though it fast-forwarded through certain parts, the trailer highlighted BO6’s new mechanics and 90s setting.
Dying Light: The Beast
Techland announced Dying Light: The Beast, a new game that continues the story of Kyle Crane. After a decade of imprisonment and experimentation, Kyle breaks free and hunts down his captors across the new world of Castor Woods.
Path of Exile 2
The Path of Exile sequel received a new trailer that revealed the release date for early access: November 15, 2024.
Dune Awakening
Developer Funcom showed off gameplay for Dune Awakening, the open-world survival MMO set in the universe of the popular sci-fi franchise. In it, players will create a character and explore the world, searching for resources and working to gain spice and power on Arrakis.
The game will come to PC in early 2025, with the release date for PlayStation and Xbox still TBA.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact showed off its next world of Natlan, which releases later this month on August 28. HoYoverse also revealed when the game will finally come to Xbox: November 20, 2024.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom unveiled a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds that includes more gameplay for the highly-anticipated title from an epic battle against an apex predator to an adorable meal with a Palico.
Civilization 7
Civilization 7 received a gameplay reveal trailer and release date: February 11, 2025.
Starfield
Bethesda announced that vehicles will finally come to Starfield with the REV-8 update dropping after the show.

Marvel Rivals
NetEase Games revealed two new heroes coming to Marvel Rivals: Captain America and the Winter Soldier. The game’s release date was also announced for December 6, 2024.
Secret Level reveal
Tim Miller, director of the first Deadpool film and creator of Love, Death & Robots, announced a new show called Secret Level coming to Prime Video. This is an anthology series set in the worlds of various games, including Dungeons & Dragons, The Outer Worlds, PAC-MAN, and many more.
In addition to the show looking pretty cool, Miller getting emotional at seeing his work finally being shown off to the world was quite moving and one of the most memorable moments of the show.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 got a new teaser and announced a February 11, 2025 release date. Those interested in seeing more can tune into a longer gameplay premiere showcase on August 21.
Batman: Arkham Shadow
Batman fans got a first look at Arkham Shadow’s gameplay, which allows players to truly step into the shoes of the Caped Crusader through VR when it releases in October 2024. The footage looks pretty impressive, but as a Meta Quest 3 exclusive, its audience is unfortunately pretty limited.
Masters of Albion
Peter Molyneux appeared onstage to reveal his new game: Master of Albion. The game blends town building with in-depth simulation elements, such as deciding what the townspeople eat.
Players design buildings and can take control of villagers to protect their town from threats at night. They can even make new weapons out of anything – though it’s clear you won’t make it too far with just a bread sword.
Blizzard celebrates milestones & Diablo
Blizzard president Johanna Faries also appeared to discuss some big anniversaries the company is marking this year. Warcraft turns 30, while WoW turns 20 and Hearthstone turns 10.
As part of the celebration, Overwatch 2‘s Widowmaker will receive a Sylvanas Windrunner skin.
Diablo’s upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion also received a new trailer ahead of its October 8 release date. Vessel of Hatred director Brent Gibson also revealed The Dark Citadel, a new co-op PvE dungeon that shakes up the game’s combat with puzzles and new mechanics.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Bethesda gave fans another look at its Indiana Jones and the Great Circle that features actor Troy Baker, who dons the iconic cap and whip for the game. The game finally got a release date too for Xbox and PC: December 9, 2024.
Additionally, the game will come to PlayStation 5 in the spring of 2025.
Mafia: The Old Country
The final announcement of ONL was Mafia: The Old Country, which brings the series to 1900s Sicily during the era in which the Mafia arose. The devs promise a “deep linear narrative with that classic mob movie feeling.”
Fans can expect to hear more about the game in December 2024.
