Sony’s upcoming PvP shooter Concord now has its early access Beta in focus. From the content on offer to the game’s availability dates, here is everything you need to know.
Yet another Overwatch competitor has come out of the woodwork. This time, it’s from Sony, with Firewalk Studios revealing Concord – a hero shooter looking to take Blizzard’s crown.
With its August 23, 2024 release date approaching, prospective fans can get their hands on the game early through a limited-time Beta. While it doesn’t include every bit of content, there’s still plenty to sink your teeth into.
Here’s how to get involved in Concord’s early access Beta before it goes offline.
How to play Concord’s early access Beta
To participate in the early access Concord Beta, you need to either purchase one of its pre-order editions or be a PlayStation Plus member. On July 11, 2024, it was revealed that all PS Plus members can join the early access test by simply downloading the Beta from the PlayStation store.
If you pre-order a copy, however, it will grant you and four other people access to the Beta. So, if you and some friends want to try Concord early, one person should pre-order the game and share access codes with the whole squad.
Concord Beta dates & times
The Concord early access beta first ran from Friday, July 12, 10 AM PDT – to Monday, July 15, 10 AM PDT on PC and PS5.
Fans could start pre-downloading the game on PS5 from Thursday, July 11 at 10 am PDT.
The open Beta weekend goes live on Thursday, July 18, 10 AM PDT and ends on Sunday, July 21, 10AM PDT.
You can find the global release times for the open Beta below:
- 10 AM PDT (Seattle)
- 1 PM EDT (New York)
- 6 PM BST (London)
- 2 AM JST (Tokyo)
- 7 PM CEST (Berlin)
- 2 PM BRT (Sao Paulo)
- 2 AM KST (Seoul)
- 3 AM AEST (Sydney)
It is worth noting, however, that the early access Beta was extended an additional day, so there’s always a chance the open Beta will follow suit.
Regardless of platform, players in the Beta are able to join their friends on PS5 and PC via optional cross-play functionality.
Finally, It’s important to note that while Beta progress carries over between both weekends, it won’t carry over into the full game.
Concord Beta content
During both the early access and open Beta, all 16 Freegunners that will be available at launch were present. So whether you prefer to jump into the fight all guns blazing or provide support to your teammates, there’s a character for everyone on the roster.
Three game modes will be available to try during the Beta: Clash Point, Cargo Run, and Trophy Hunt across four maps that you can play on and explore: Freewater, Star Chamber, Water Hazard, and Shock Risk.

Speaking about the modes on offer in an official PlayStation blog, Firewalk Communications Manager, Alice Labrecque said ‘It was important to us when developing Concord to make sure we had modes for everyone, so whether you are looking to queue up for a quick round of Trophy Hunt or want to prove you and your crew have the best strats to retrieve Blue Buddy in Cargo Run, there’s something for everyone.’
For the open beta weekend, an Area Control mode and the Bones Mines map will be added.
