Spectre Divide has been revealed to the world with Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek as its figurehead, and it’s coming out with a Closed Beta. Here’s everything you need to know.
Mountaintop, an indie studio, announced their take on the tactical FPS genre with a body-swapping game mechanic, all set in a classic 3v3 bomb site defense/attack game mode.
In their reveal, the devs announced they would conduct tests over the next few months, starting with a “stress test” on the server and a closed beta for the free-to-play game. The stress test ran on August 3 successfully, and the Closed Beta is set to start on August 13.
Here is how you can get in on the game’s Closed Beta.
How to get into the Spectre Divide Closed Beta
There are two ways to gain access to the Spectre Divide Closed beta. One way is to sign up to playtest the game on its Steam Store page and hope you are selected to take part in the beta.
To sign up players will need to:
- Log into their Steam accounts and navigate to the Spectre Divide page in the store menu.
- Select “Request Access” to join the Playtest and add the game to your Steam wishlist.
- Wait for an email saying Spectre Divide has been added to your game library.
- Download the Playtest
Players who sign up early for access on the Steam page will have a higher chance of getting into the beta, according to the developers.
The other way is by receiving a Specter Divide drop on Twitch by watching streamers, like shroud, who have drops enabled. Each stream should have a chance to drop an invite code to the Closed Beta.

The developers have said they are limiting the number of players let into the beta, but more people will be given codes as it goes on.
Closed Beta dates
The Spectre Divide beta will start on August 13 at 9 AM PT and run until August 21 at 6 PM PT. The servers will run throughout the entire window, meaning players can rack up a ton of playtime in the early access period if they wish.
Spectre Divide Twitch drops
Players will also be able to get cosmetic drops from watching enabled streams for their Spectre Divide accounts. The cosmetics will only be available through these drops during the beta period.
The in-game items include:
- Bad Intentions Spray
- Troublemaking Banner
- Sinister Smile Charm
Prospective players who want to set themselves up with the best chance to access the Closed Beta should request access and wishlist the game on Steam, as well as fire up a Twitch stream at the start of the period.
They should also keep a stream going even if they’ve gotten in to get these limited-time cosmetics.
This article will be updated with more info about the closed beta as it releases or changes.
