How to play Warcraft 3: Reforged beta – release date, invites, more

Blizzard has announced that a limited multiplayer beta for WarCraft 3: Reforged would begin the week leading up to BlizzCon 2019.

WarCraft 3: Reign of Chaos was released in 2002, with it’s expansion The Frozen Throne being released in 2003.

World of Warcraft came out in 2004 and has since become one of Blizzard’s biggest games, so RTS WarCraft fans had a 15-year wait for Reforged at BlizzCon 2018.

Leading up to Blizzard’s annual convention unit models and other assets from the game have been leaked and previewed.

When does the beta start?

Blizzard announced on October 29 that the Warcraft 3: Reforged Multiplayer beta would begin in select regions the week ahead of BlizzCon 2019, which starts on November 1.

The beta only includes the Human and Orc races for now, with Night Elf and Undead to be added “in the weeks ahead” according to Blizzard.

Only 1v1 and 2v2 game modes will be available at first for the multiplayer beta, but Blizzard also said more game modes would be added along with more races later on.

Invitations for the beta will be sent out to players who preordered the Spoils of War special edition, with each additional wave of invites going out to more players who have purchased the game.

The Spoils of War edition of WarCraft 3 Reforged includes special bonus items in other Blizzard games like Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone and more.

After almost a year of waiting for any sign of a release date, the Reforged multiplayer beta starting is definitely good news for fans.

What else is coming for WarCraft 3: Reforged at BlizzCon?

BlizzCon 2019 promises to be one of the biggest in recent years, and WarCraft 3 fans are looking forward to an exact release date for Reforged.

We could also get a better look at the Night Elf and Undead races, which we’ve seen glimpses of in leaks and previews but nothing compared to the Orcs and Humans.

Even if you didn’t pre-order the Spoils of War edition, now would probably be a good time to start practicing hotkeys and brushing up on your preferred build for Reforged.
